Now I don't want to be Mr. Party Pooper while everyone is enjoying the HUGE victory tonight.

But...

New Mexico State has signed nine 3 stars over the last 4 years. Yes, 9 total. The rest were 2 stars.

These last 4 classes were ranked 129, 124, 119 and 118.

Tonight they played without their star player at running back, as well as a starting olineman and starting linebacker.

They lost their best WR before halftime.

I see no reason why anyone should be chastised for picking the cats to stomp the cocks next week!

We got a win,nice to have one.Next week brings us a chance to get another one.A few good things happened in ths one but probably more bad than good.It is difficult to get overly excited about this one,if we can get USC next week then we can reassess things just a bit.

Vandy doesn't look like world beaters and Miss St isn't setting the world on fire either.If we could find some semblance of a defense maybe we can win 5 or dare I say 6.No,six isn't going to happen but it would be nice to pick up a few wins in the second half of the season

At the end of the day this was one of the worst teams in college football and we looked pathetic against them for most of the day..winning against them and putting up a lot of yardage against them is nothing to write home about. We could've just as easily lost this game today. This was a pitiful and embarrassing performance today. We made mistake after mistake after mistake on defense and ONCE AGAIN we got ABSOLUTELY MANHANDLED at the line of scrimmage by a team with inferior talent, size, speed, athleticism, etc. I'm sorry, but it's hard for me to be anything other than disappointed with the way the defense performed tonight after being completely embarrassed in the first two weeks. You would think that a team with any pride whatsoever would come out fired up on defense after the way we played the first couple weeks, but it was the exact opposite..we continue to get worse. It was so bad that the game's commentators kept talking about how we were struggling to even get lined up right. Think about that for a second..we couldn't even get lined up right after we had been EMBARRASSED two weeks in a row on defense. It doesn't take talent to get lined up right, it just takes a coaching staff that halfway knows what they're doing. This is not a performance anyone should be proud of in any way whatsoever. It's completely embarrassing and WE as a fanbase should expect a whole lot more.

Kudos to the team for pulling it together and winning but this was a bad team we played and they put the clown suit on Stoops' D the first half. Let that sink in.

Will be interesting to see how we handle ourselves against a team like USCjr next week. They aren't good but have some talent. Going off the way this team has performed against more talented teams , I expect to get our butts handed to us and our lines getting mutiliated. But I've been wrong before.

One positive, I feel Gran is really good. Not sure he can overcome the D and the micromanaging of Stoops but he's legit.

Agree this win was ok. Not great considering we were badly out played for half the game by what is one of the worst teams in football. Still our offense came to life and I do feel there is legitimate reason to feel optimistic about that. I believe that offense we saw yesterday would actually play well against any team on the schedule. However it's the same offense that never saw the field against USM. In other words there is little reason to believe the defense is getting any better. I was down to predicting 2 wins for the year. I might have improved that enough to raise it to 3. The situation might have improved somewhat but it's still really bad.

I'm glad we won the game, but we're a pretty bad football team. Defense is horrible! I do think Eddie Gran and Darrin Henshaw can do some good things with the offense, but that defense is bad. I don't think we beat South Carolina. Hope I'm wrong.

Stoops has to go. I think you and I agreed that we needed to see efficient control for 4 quarters to believe any real progress has been made. We didn't see it at all, in my opinion. As soon as we play decent competition again, the "improvements" we saw on offense will disappear. I guess we may have seen a little improvement with Johnson, but not enough to change my mind. As for the defense, it was totally inept, yet again. This experiment is over. The only think left to decide is when we're changing horses. The Troy game really got my blood boiling, for myriad reasons.
