Having been a Rutgers basketball fan since the early 1970s when I was a small child going to the Barn with my parents, I am as devastated by the outcome of this season as anyone. However, I have something else going on that makes this seem trivial. I mentioned in a thread about a week ago, that I was going to depend on you guys to update me on the Michigan game because that day my mother was having heart valve replacement. Well she had that procedure done and it was successful but there's a catch. She is 89 years old and lives in a nursing home. She's sharp as a tack mentally but her body is so crippled with arthritis that she can no longer stand up on her own, can't bathe herself, can do basically anything for herself, hence the move to the nursing home. Prior to the heart valve replacement she had extreme difficulty breathing and couldn't even sleep at night. That's why the medical staff and my family and my mother came to the decision that it was best to put my mom through this difficult procedure even given her advanced age. The thinking was at least the time she has left she will be able to breathe easier and be able to sleep. Now she's back at the nursing home but due to the coronavirus, no visitors are allowed even immediate family. I can't be with her during this critical time of recovery and if this quaratine goes on for months, I might never see her again. The woman who, along with my late father, made me a Rutgers fan at eight years old. She was still sitting in the handicap section of the RAC as recently as Eddie Jordan's first year as coach (and his failure as a coach hurt her more than anyone as he was her all time favorite RU player). So if you're so inclined please pray for me and her.

Prayers to your mom, you and your family
Thanks Bac. I was allowed in the hospital yesterday when she had the procedure as that was the last day they were allowing visitors. One of the first things she asked me in the recovery room mid afternoon was "did we finally beat Michigan?". It broke my heart to have to tell her

WVU fan here. This is especially tough for RU fans. You guys had a great year and a nice turnaround. Really liked watching Ron Harper, Jr. and Geo Baker ball out when RU games were on and WVU didn't have a game conflicting. Of all years this has to happen! Was really looking forward to seeing RU back in the NCAA's since 1991. You guys are on the up and up though and are going to be a force to be reckoned with going forward.
