Wondering if maybe anyone has thought about if the guys pulling Mitch's strings, and you know the big boosters and money guys do, if maybe they said no to Petrino. Or maybe Sandy Bell said no way. I mean you guys said what he did isn't bad and if that's the case Arkansas should have never fired him. Thoughts? And you guys know that money guys calls the shots and Mitch is the puppet. If you think otherwise then your they went over Mitch's head to hire Cal theory is garbage.

Pretty confident that it wasn't the boosters who turned down a coach that was going to give us basically a guaranteed top-25 caliber team on a yearly basis. My money is on the guy who turned down Cal the first time around--Mormon Mitch.

I don't think there's any question that it was Mitch. He passed on Cal. We wouldn't have Cal today if others around the program didn't come in and force Mitch to go after Cal. We got lucky with Cal that we got a second chance. Our football program didn't get the same type of luck.

Matt Jones just stated on the Post-Game Show that through a mutual friend, Petrino wanted to meet with Matt in hopes that he could convince Mitch and the UK people that he REALLY wanted be UK's head coach.
Mat then was told by the UK people that they would NEVER hire Petrino.

Looking back now, that seems like a bad decision.

"We're going to get some things cleaned up in practice this week, I promise. We have to take it one play at a time and give 110%."

Until Doc Brown invents a time machine this entire conversation is irrelevant
It's not irrelevant, it just further proves that Mitch is a terrible AD, and that he completely sh@t the bed on yet another higher. It proves his negligence of the football program... by turning away a proven winner who was beating down the door to coach here!!!!!!!! Why because it was above him and his self righteous ego. This conversation is one that needs to circulate amongst the fan base, in order to put more heat on mitch. The dick has gotten pass for the other failed hires he's made; and for the fact he didn't get Brooks the funding we needed WHILE we had momentum as a program. He's gotten a pass for jumping the gun and giving stoops an extension with a 12 million dollar buyout.....freaking 12 million who EFFING does that. He's gotten a pass when he hired BG and not Cal (again another proven coach that wanted the job), and would've done it again if not for those who actually care and made it happen! Don't tell us this isn't a relevant conversation. It's a conversation that's well overdue and needs to happen. It's something the fans need to hear so they can hold this idiot accountable for running the football program further into the ground, just so he can have a clear moral conscience.

And this is what people miss, even if they don't believe the TRUTH that Mitch wanted no part of Cal either time.

He PASSED on him the first time. How lucky were we to be in the position to have another shot.

Barnhart is really, really bad at this AD thing. Please God, why didn't Kansas take him?

I threw up several times watching that pathetic showing against Florida today but I still want no part of Petrino. Disagree if you like and I respect your opinion but Petrino is scum x 2. I can't take much more of Stoops but I'll pass on Petrino. He may be a decent coach but he's a morally bankrupt *** of a human being.
