For those of you that missed it.....and frankly, I only saw it by sheer accident after coincidentally turning on the telecast on the last green of the playoff......former Greenbrier champ Kevin Na survived (after giving up a several shot lead) and won at Las Vegas last weekend.
After sinking the winning putt, Na was being interviewed by TGC and went out of his way to speak in native tongue directly to his Korean fans. It went on far longer than a simple "thanks to the home-boys for your support" kind-of message, and Na was clearly quite emotional in his delivery. I doubt too many folks.....including the interviewer.....had any idea what it was all about.
Well, as it turns out, Na has been going through major PR issues in his homeland, which I myself was unaware until reading this account. I've grown to be a fan of Na.....the Greenbrier win probably had a fair amount do with it......mostly because it's nice to see the Tour rabbits turn things around later in their careers, especially those (like Na) with a bit of charisma.
He's really become pretty damned successful (and, I think, fairly popular) the last couple years; in fact, I understand he's considered a candidate for the upcoming Presidents Cup. But this is a puzzling.....and frankly, sad......story; and if you're not familiar with it, you probably should be if you follow the Tour:
