Fox Valley is pretty tough. history is going to repeat its self for MC they haven’t had a championship since 2013, And even back in those days the Championship were mostly 5A so don’t hype MC up as if they been running 7A or 8A!

2012 8A, 2013 7A....don’t spew nonsense, especially on this site. Do your homework before you talk crap about a team, especially one like MC that has a huge loyal following here that will call you out on any BS you try to pass as fact

so if a kid or opposing coach knows the situation why not have someone inquire. we say its about the kids alot, is bettering their athletic situation not included in that? Would the JB kid who left MC be an Alabama recruit had he stayed, how about the kid who came to PHillips and now at Pitt? These rosters of top city public/privates are big, from an offensive perspective its only one football. If one is 3rd or 4th string behind kids like Irving & Brown in the same grade how can you be seen by colleges with limited film?
If
Catholic school isn’t cheap, Phillips doing parents a favor snatching kids away from them programs. If they can’t afford the education or The environment doesn’t feel quite right There is a place for you on Pershing Rd.

Indiana and Wisconsin is the pipeline for the Catholic League I was a the Casino and saw that MC van pull up next to me I said Damn bruh where you headed he told me
Lowell......
I know this thread would lead into the transfer battle and apparently now a battle of Catholic vs Public education, can you give us some info on Phillips Football team? I know they are athletic, but it seems like they don’t have the the big name guy that they have had in years past.
Ronald Pledger Cornerback/receiver is prolly the best player 6’3-6’4 he’s pretty fast has good hands. Besides him No real standouts like last year. Majority of the team is Juniors including QB Antonio Brown

I’ve been telling people you can’t run on that Defense of Phillips they make you pay.
I thought the quarterback (Thrower) that started the season was talented. Not sure why he’s not playing, but he certainly has an arm, and appeared to make good decisions. I know Marty was on an island last week with Ben being brought up for run support, so I

You started to make sense talking football, now you sound like there’s a personal issue with MC... back on point! I’m looking forward to the chess match between the coordinators. Phillips likes to get Phleger in man coverage and throw him jump balls. Honestly I thought the kid Thrower who started the season at quarterback had a great arm and appeared to make good decisions. However, Phleger appears to be a viable offensive threat; I expect MC to counter with Ben and Marty in combo coverage. They can play cover two man all day... last week they left Marty on an island, due to bringing Ben up for run support and some key blitzes. I expect our defense to have a huge day with turnovers...

I don’t need to ask Google, because I know my schools history. Let me give you a history lesson. The IHSA used to be only 6 classes, not 8, so when you use your Google and see us winning in 6A and 5A that’s equivalent to winning 8A and 7A...you want to talk facts and size up the game, this is the place, you want to talk crap, save it or tread lightly

I beg to differ about 5A!

Of course MC has won at the 5A level a lot.

Of course there were only 6 classes then.....

Kevin, buddy, you know me too well ...

Mt Carmel has won 12 state championships. Of these, two were at the highest level at that time; nine were one level down; and one was two levels down. We've lost five state championship games: two at the highest level at that time, and three at one level down. We lost in the semis in 1987 to East St Louis in the highest level.

In the seven years from 2006 to 2012, we competed in 8A playoffs.

Probably more difficult to win a championship prior to the 8 classes.

How many has MC won in 8A? I think you will agree it’s not as easy in 8A.

Seriously? There IS football outside of Chicago..

The last 3 6A state Champions (Cary 18, Prairie Ridge 17 &16) were from the Fox valley ....5 of the last 10 6A Champions (Cary 09, PR 11) . Add on another 2 runner ups (Cary 12& 14).

6A has had either PR or Cary in the finals 70% of the last 10 years championship.

If the kid makes the decision fine. But if the coach makes first contact that's pimpy. CCL schools have to fill seats. Once he's in school its hands off. Some Suburban coaches are famous for poaching. Phillip's coaches took that to a new low by showing up at the end of practices. Irving was asked to leave St. Rita before classes started, moved on to Morgan Pk., then to Hillcrest. He may have left on his own later when KB started in front of him.
he would've left.....um no! he would have an 1 year head start on Brown, as a Soph Irving was dynamic! If coaching staff didn't run split back offense with those two then remove them all. Receivers would have a field day

Pretty decent showing by the Wildcats. 2 offensive scores allowed vs MC at home is very respectable
Defensive battle today! I didn’t see the stats, but I’d like to say MC held Clark under 50 yards. However, don’t quote me...

Surprisingly, Lynch called a conservative game offensively. Phillips stacked 8 in the box and blitzed almost every play. Obviously, the game plan was to pound the ball; Odeluga rushed for over 100 yards. On the contrary, I was impressed with two way player Phleger; he covered Parker most of the game in ‘no mans land’...

Nice article in the Sun-Times about the game.
https://chicago.suntimes.com/2019/11/16/20968537/mount-carmel-phillips-chicago-high-school-football

Phillips’ football ascension over the past few years has directly impacted Mount Carmel. The teams had never played an actual game before Saturday, but they are regularly battling for players. Several have left Mount Carmel for Phillips since the Wildcats started winning state titles.

“People call it the Super Bowl of the South Side and all that,” Caravan junior Kenenna Odeluga said. “It was fun, we saw some guys that used to go to Mount Carmel. So it is fun beating down on them.”

Mount Carmel, the traditional powerhouse, beat the upstart Wildcats 24-8 in the Class 7A state quarterfinals.

The win secured a perfect debut season for the Caravan at their new on-campus stadium and further proves that the controversial ousting of legendary coach Frank Lenti for Jordan Lynch two years ago was the right decision to move Mount Carmel football forward.
