Bad score, Real score is Phillips 20, Julian 0, with about 8 minutes left in the 2nd qtr when the storms hit.

Every year I notice quite a few scores being falsely reported on the Tribune,Sun Times and IHSA website.People get a life if you think reporting false scores is funny.

How hard do you think the IHSA would look at the CPS "Open enrollment" advantage if Phillips wins 4A this year and do some sort of adjustment (ie multiplier)

About as hard as they look at Rochester, who's working on their 6th straight in 4A?

Last I looked Rochester has a defined boundary of about 10K-15K people like every other 4A public school, not half of the south side.. 15K vs 700K??? Yeah, ok

Yea and with that 700k to pick from, CPS schools are churning out state titles EVERY year.
I think he was trying to make a point of it at the 4A level in comparison to the small towns these HS's are in, which Phillips hasn't won anything yet, but has the look of a team that can.

Yeah HHS the poor down trodden of Rochester could only swing this little field house, no recruiting going on here move along. Please explain to all of us the justification of spending $26 million on a sports complex in a community this size?! 2100 students district wide or $12,381/student!

Rochester has a little field house and athletic complex of their own, Not so much different than HF's (well no indoor turf field YET). The field house is approximately 45,000 square feet and can seat 2,500 people. The complex had a main gym floor, retractable bleachers, two side courts, a three-lane track, a wrestling area, weight and locker rooms, and a team meeting room. The District spent a whopping $26 million on this complex and school infrastructure. Seems to me to be a bit excessive.

Probably, but, being hhs I'm less likely to care as it's generally just him pissing and moaning. And I'm not even going to get into a debate about boundaries and all that other stuff..but when you win 5 in a row, move up a class or two.

If I were a betting man probably not to bad...with the risk of making this political without intent I'm guessing us northerners supported a good deal of this project.

I just looked it up the average is 2.1% so it substantial, but average property value only $200k. I was also a little surprised by per capita income being north of $42k. The area is certainly well funded and compensated for the cost of living index.

Wow, what are taxes over there?

Isnt Rochester kind of a hamlet for Illinois state workers, not quite as super-charged as Chatham-Glenwood, but having the same kind of steady (at least until this year) money?

The sports complex was just $5.5Million of a larger $26m Job So not totally crazy.

All.... With Springfield being the capital city families move in and out often. Rochester (many refer to them as Springfield East ) along with Chatham and a couple of other smaller towns enjoy the benefits of a town the size of Springfield offers without having to send their kids to the three less than desirable public schools in the city. Unless of course one decides to spend a bucket of money on a private school.

Actually Rochester, Chatham and I believe Pleasant Plains have many Springfield addresses making those towns quite attractive.

Rochester has done well the past few years with athletes moving in. Chatham was a cow pasture years ago but people wanting out of Springfield and others moving in have increased that towns population many fold over. All their sports has gotten better. The football team should be even better but that's another story for another day.... Ratsy

Godfather,

Guess I should have dug a bit deeper, but still $2,620 per kid isn't too bad for the little "Rinky dink" school HHS would try to make one believe. Looks like Rochester is having the time of their lives "NOT Recruiting" Springfield...HAHA! Only question is can they get to 10 titles and if so then what happens? My thoughts...Lets Go Phillips!

Makes you wonder if the father or the son has an easier time recruiting Springfield trying to convince families to pay tuition or sell their house/change their lease and move!
