Uh...I've been rooting for Duke for over 50 years, so I remember the greats. Perhaps I didn't clarify myself when I said Grayson was one of my top 2 or 3 players of all-time. I didn't say he was the the best, but to be fair to you, I didn't say he was a 'favorite' either. I'm rectifying that mistake here, and now. Grayson is one of my all-time favorite players...period.

Topps, mine is Laettner, but Bob Verga was a bad dude, and anyone that saw him play knows how great he was. If the 3 point line had been around then...wow...no telling how many points he might have scored. And '66 possibly could have been a national championship year if he hadn't got sick at the FF. What could have been.

Loved him! #11, remember his sickness, think he played, got 2-4'pts....Liccardo played more that game or Wendelin on reserve role I think...

I'm an OFC member and I think of Grayson as that son who excels in everything he does, has a heart of gold, but has made some mistakes like any kid. Yes Grayson makes my 5 favorite all time Duke players and I go back over 40 years, can't remember just how long.

Someone, somehow compared Grayson to Hitler in the comment section of the article. Original comment was deleted, but he followed up with this gem:

"Yes, he did a good thing. Very good. Maybe he is going to grow up. But he has been a poster child for poor sportsmanship. And the point of the Hitler comparison was not to equate him to Hitler -- but to point out that doing a good thing does not wipe out the bad (something most of you are willing to do).
By the way Tommy, I can't go on a hike tomorrow -- I have plans to go to the mall and trip grandmothers at the top of the escalator. You seem to approve of tripping."

What a POS this guy is.....

Man you guys went way back! Lemme guess they played on dirt floors and used a coconut as the basketball??? ;) Just kidding!!!
No offense taken but the old farts on this board really appreciate how good this program is now.We were a great program under Bubas when I first became a fan but then went thru a long period of mediocrity under Bucky Waters.I hope it never gets to that level again but reading this board, I often wonder what would happen if we ever face real adversity again

You are right Topps, but that's what happens when someone comes in and since 86 has kept Duke for most part as a contender. Hard to accept losing when your team has won for that long, but yes it gets fans overreacting. Expectations are always high

It happens every year, I don't even know why it upsets me any more. We lose a couple games early in the season and we get the season over and we're done posts. The same folks that make those posts end up here with the faithful shaking their pom poms at the end.
