Can I say nicely, Pierre doesn’t feel like a Pope guy to me.

Not that every kid has to be some honor roll, clean cut, high character guy. But I do think those type connect with Pope more and the first class of transfers were dominated by them.

Cool highlights but I would be shocked if he’s wearing blue and white next year until I see a change in who Pope brings in.
I don’t know anything about Pierre at all, for all we know he is the same high character guy we have been brining in.

Just spitballing - maybe there are some simple ways a coach could go negative on Pope to sway a kid.

- players to the league
- he’s a system guy not geared to showcase player specific talent
- decrease in minutes played (focus on analytics to decide impactful minutes)
- hasn’t landed top talent yet outside of KY
- for PG, he uses big man to initiate offense
- sub patterns are herky due to shortened minutes

Just a thought. If I’m Bruce or Hurley or Wade, I’d go after these points to devalue Kentucky and Pope. Offer similar money and could help a player decide.

Just playing DA. I love Mark.
I've wondered about the minutes thing. Cal apparently thought "platooning" in 2014-25 hurt us getting the best guys after that year because other schools started negative recruiting on it. But Pope's decision to limit minutes isn't a one-off platoon thing, it's just his preference.

Tangible as in Kentucky isn’t gonna get him
That effin sucks!!! My favorite guard including Dent to enter the portal…how many more are we gonna miss before we all realize that WE HAVE A PROBLEM? I don’t think that problem is with Pope or our staff, I think it lies right with one Mitch Brainfart.

I never thought Brandon Garrison was a Pope kind of guy, but it looks like he's coming back for year 2

Very true. I usually search YouTube for interviews to get that vibe and search their bios from their schools.

Just a feel thing for me. Nothing specific out there that would suggest anything differently.

And that’s why this is all vague and needs cleaned up in general.

But Mitch is still responsible for making sure the athletic department stays compliant with any rules; it’s why he was slow to embrace a UK collective.

NIL deals coming from brands wouldn’t need UK approval. But “booster money” may be under fire soon and if the boosters are associated with the University and are likely working alongside UK athletics and not functioning as rouge actors…they’ll do whatever the UK current administrative policy is.
NIL has nothing to do with the school it's that simple.
Boosters can donate any amount they wish to the collective, every person in the state of KY could cash in their 401K and donate it. This is not going to change on the 7th. Everything the court is going to rule on involves school money not the collective.

The arguments will be heard on the 7th then a decision from the judge after, no real timeline to make a decision.
After the ruling still nothing will change they will be a injunction to stop the action till it is taken to a higher court.

EDIT after the ruling everybody might say OK that is fair and no appeal but a lot of times it gets tied up in court a long time.

This explains it fairly good.

Yeah I somewhat agree, but we should be going all out at this point. Lawyers have always won these issues. Not too much a school can get in trouble for right now IMO. Playing it slow is painfully stupid right now.
Especially since no one else is playing by the same rule. Just puts uk further behund

if that is the case, then again, that is not a hard fix
just tell Oweh that after all of the dust has settled, you will be the highest paid
get the kids you want/need and then bump Oweh if needed
you don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure this out
anyone that has any type of business experience could handle that
As someone who deals with this in a business setting on a regular basis, it's not that easy.

I'm not sure how he will play in the SEC you have quicker more athletic players than he's been playing against.
That could make a good player from a lesser league look average.

scoring 21.6. The 6'5 guard shot 42.4% from the field and 38.2% from three on the season. The 38.2% from three came on 7.6 attempts per game, so he is an elite high-volume three-point shooter.

That could change big time with pressure and D on him.

His numbers when they played the one SEC team MIZ.
