And that's the answer; he likely isn't leaving on his own; and unless you know something going on internally - they aren't finding a $20M check to say good-bye; But that doesn't mean they are going to sit and watch this (I'll be nice) not very good basketball for too much longer. So another year - with hopefully more dollars to spend - is the answer to this. And if it doesn't work - than somebody likely will find a $16M (or whatever it is) check, and we move on.
See what in spurts exactly? I see 100% 1-1 streetball basketball. You can't win consistently in high major basketball that way. We got away with in the past with guys like Geo, Ron, Caleb, Paul, etc. We don't have those guys on this roster - not seeing it.
And we don't have any elite defenders like Caleb or Mag or Myles Johnson. Not seeing it.
It all starts and ends with Brandin Knight. Hopefully they move on from him and bring an assistant in who actually has an offensive scheme that they run in game. That will at least set the tone for types of players they attract.
I also don't expect a lot of this roster to be back either. All the bigs should be gone, they need to recruit two in the portal. Biggest questions will be if Davis, Francis, Buchanan and Grant stay. I'm not sold on any of the freshman/euro guys yet but that can change as we get to the latter part of the season.
That streeball basketball made the NCAA tournament 3 straight years (counting the COVID year) with a core very similar to this.

I just don't get the 11 man rotation. Are we in Little League and everyone gets a bat. Everyone else can land on 8 maybe 9 top guys to play. We're either the worst conditioned basketball team in the nation or they're just throwing sh*t at the wall each game.
I also don't get icing your own players. How many times have we seen a kid on a tear get pulled? Suddenly, he comes back in and would have a better chance just whipping it one handed at the basket. It's maddening

No way! No comparison to this roster and RU 2019-2021. Are you kidding me?
that core was geo, Caleb, Ron, Paul, Myles, Cliff (for part of it), Montez, Jacob.
Nobody on the current roster is at that level.

Caleb g-league
Cliff playing overseas
Geo would have had a shot at prob ball without his injury that took away his explosiveness
this isnt pre nil..you have to win on a yearly basis. The frosh and sophs small spurts are hardly enough to inspire confidence and stuff like waiting to develop for senior year will not work. I get people want to find any small positive but quite frankly these frosh are underwhelming as is Dortsh and even Grant
the core is nowhere similar to this..there are no harpers or geos or cliffs or myles or calebs and jy or pauls on this team

some have an irrational loyalty to Pike..blinders about the reality to our talent level currently
That core would beat this core by 25 points easily
this is true but a pet peeve of mine with Pikes teams is playing to level of competition and throwing in clunkers.....and Geo ghosting games..remember disasters like Nebraska losing by 25-30 not to mention Lafayette, Lehigh type games
but yeah there is no comparison really...i think the atrocious non conference start set the bar so low that any small sign people rushed to and said see look we are getting better just need time
again look at the schools we beat...Oregon, NW and even in loss to Iowa....all slower methodical less athletic players. When I saw Indiana come on the court, lean and long and athletic I said to myself we are in trouble. So RU can play with less athletic schools in the Big 10, well that will get you 5 wins top this year and the same problem exists next year. They do not have the horses to compete with the top half of the league. There are no 3 point shooters beyond Francis, there is no wing 3 point threat, no center, no experienced point guard, no guards with size, and stick figures for forwards
The funniest thing with Pike is when he waves at the crowd to stand up on a defensive possession and no one responds at all !

I think Grant can be better than any version of Mawog Mag we ever had.
I think Mark can be Young good.
I think Nwuli can be better than Caleb. Much better offensively and close enough defensively to be a better all around player.
We don't know how good Ware is but supposedly he has the best post moves on the team. Just like we didn't know how good Myles was when he redshirted.
And Jones has a ceiling higher than every one of those players.
no confidence in this environment. he and staff haven't adjusted to the landscape, and it shows. but the environment didn't completely cause this--the signs were there with since 2021, 2022, with classes he completely struck out with.
that said, his player evaluations, the ones he has brought in, even just as NIL was coming, and how he uses his players has been underwhelming. that has been the most surprising. he has a style, but has players that don't fit his style, and then he doesn't adapt.
maybe RU catches a break and Pikell pulls a Lappas and goes somewhere else--he should be at an America East or A-10 level now.

By 35 Francis wouldn’t score against Caleb at all! Caleb too big too strong and too smart
Your Nwulli can be better than Caleb officially puts you into a penalty box. Your no longer allowed to post anything about basketball again for the rest of the season.
