With recent recruiting classes, hopefully Bob and the staff can climb back up on lists/stats like these...

Truthfully, if I had been asked and hadn't already seen BillyRay's list, I would have bet the farm that OU had more than North Carolina, Missouri, Louisville, and Miami FL. A "Wow" moment for me!

I binned the Rivals recruiting rankings from 2007-2017. I did a 5-point system. 5 points for a 1-5 ranking, 4 points for 6-10 ranking and so on down to 1 point for 21-25.

Here is the overall recruiting rankings for 2007-2017 using that binning system. A perfect score would be 55 which is almost what Alabama has. In 2007, they sadly were only in the 11-15 ranking bin.

Team Points
1. Alabama 53
2. USC 47
3. Florida State 46
4. LSU 45
5. Ohio State 44
6. Georgia 41
7. Auburn 40
8. Florida 39
9. Texas 38
10. Notre Dame 36
11. Oklahoma 35
11. Tennessee 35
13. Clemson 33
14. Michigan 32
15. UCLA 27
16. Miami 25
16. aTm 25
18. South Carolina 21
19. Oregon 20
20. Ole Miss 17
20. Stanford 17
22. Louisville 12
22. Penn State 12
24. Nebraska 11
25. North Carolina 10
26. Cal 8
27. Virginia Tech 7
28. Michigan State 6
28. Washington 6
30. Arkansas 5
31. ASU 4

Kinda makes a case for those schools we all hate doesn't it.
Especially Alabama. I know many like to make excuses for Alabama success as being overhyped by ESPN or that the SEC isn't really as good as the "propaganda" that some sports outlets put out there to prop it up. But fact is, Alabama just flat out has better players than everybody else. NFL teams aren't going to pick players in the first round just cuz of the SEC reputation or that ESPN says so.

OU I think is getting back up there though. I think more than anything is that list is showcasing that around 2009, Bob and his staff started to take their vacation from pushing recruiting hard. They got lazy and complacent and the results showed.

So Texas and OU are the only two Big 12 schools with a "decent" recruiting record. I wonder how much different OU's record would have been in another conference, like say SEC or PAC, when they had the opportunity?

I wonder how much being in another conference would have helped OUs recruiting results? I think being in the Big XII hurt OUs ability to recruit the truly elite talent as well since the list I posted includes those years the SEC was winning national titles nearly every year. They won like 7 or 8 in a row right? No doubt recruits notice that and had the mentality that the SEC was "big boy football".

I, too, was disbelieving...So much so, that I thought there must be a Typo in the Graph...I checked, and double-checked for OU...'Someone' from the sec-sec must have deleted OUr Stats...
