Anyone else watching. Been extremely exciting early on. Don't have a dog in the fight but love the Stanley cup playoffs. Only time I watch hockey.

Wish I could get into watching hockey (as if I don't already watch too much sports). I have a couple of friends who go watch the Predators and have told me that it's entirely different in person. I don't entirely understand the rules and penalties, but I'll give these touchers one thing, skating is an afterthought for them. As someone who once went ice skating and the next day looked like I'd been involved in a fairly serious car accident, their balls to the wall skating without even seeming to think about it impresses the hell out of me.

I love Smashville and the predators. I will be there if they make it to Stanley cup final.

Hockey sucks *** Imo if not in person or during the playoffs. Also I live in NKY so don't really have a team.

Probably the easiest sport to understand the rules. Puck has to cross the blue line before an offensive player can go across. That is offside. Shooting the puck from behind center ice and it crosses the goal line. That is icing. It is allowed if you are shorthanded. Most of the stuff you go to the penalty box is self explanatory. I still don't see interference every time it happens.

It's entirely different in person. It's fun and fast. You can see the puck a lot better. You can feel the jolt when the player gets rocked on the boards and you have a better appreciation for their talent and athleticism after seeing it in person.

Playoff hockey is the best postseason in pro sports. There's tons of parity (that's why there's an 8 seed in the conf finals now) and blowouts are rare unlike the NBA (the worst postseason in sports).

Another thing to note for offsides, JD, is kind of compare it to snowbirds/cherry pickers in basketball where they just hang out on the offensive end. You can't go into the zone/blue line until the puck crosses first. It prevents some guy just hanging out down by the net all the time.

If the puck gets knocked out of the zone and behind the blue line then everyone has to come out past the blue line before re-entering again.
