Huge series, especially for the home standing Cards. Very important for our NCAAT chances to win this series. Cards and Panthers are currently tied for 7th in the ACC standings. First pitch at 5pm tonight!

Wyatt Danilowicz gets the Friday start for this one. 3 up and 3 down with 1 K in the top of the first. Go Cards!

Zion Rose still out with a “lower body injury”. Cards get a leadoff walk, but a fly out and a double play ends our first inning.

Hot with a double (inches from a homer), Crain with a single, and then Elam drives in Hot with a groundout. Cards manufacture a run to lead 1-0 going to the third!

Cards scratched out a second run in the 4th on a walk, an error, a sac bunt and a sac fly. 2-0 Cards. Danilowicz is doing a great job against a very talented Pitt team.

Cards still leading 2-0 going to the top of the 8th. Jake Schweitzer takes over for Wyatt Danilowicz. Second straight great outing for WD!

Yeesh. Replaying the last game against UNC with this game!

Schweitzer very ineffective, does get one out on a pick off, but ends up loading the bases. England comes in and gets the second out giving up a sacrifice fly for Pitt’s first run.

Very bad choice to try to throw out a runner going back to 3rd base by Baker (our normally very reliable catcher). That results in a throwing error that allows Pitt to tie it at 2, and then a double scores the go ahead run. Pitt leads 3-2 heading to the bottom of the 8th.

Cards tied it up in the bottom of the 8th, but then gave it right back with a 2-base passed ball and then a sacrifice fly. Cards go quietly in the bottom of the 9th, and Pitt takes game one 4-3.

Game 2. Can the Cards bounce back like they did against UNC? Colton Hartman gets the start.

Cards currently lead 3-0 through 2 innings. Should have been 4-0, but Kyle Campbell didn’t tag up at 3rd and run home on Lucas Moore’s perfect sacrifice fly with only one out.

Cards are battling today. Hartman gave up a 3 run homer in the 3rd but did enough and had enough hitting support to leave with a 7-4 lead through 5 innings.

Peter Michael pitched 1.2 innings and gave up 1 run on a solo homer, and Ty Starke has followed him. Cards have also added a run to stay 3 ahead, now in the 8th.

Starke starts the 8th and records 1 out, then gives way to Jake Bean who records two strikeouts looking. The Pitt coach was extremely upset about the called 3rd strike to the first batter (the Pitt star, Lorenzo Carrier). Cards still lead 8-5 heading to the bottom of the 8th.

Cards pitching makes it scary - Bean gives up 2 hits and a hit by pitch to load the bases, and then with two outs Elam bobbles a ground ball at second base to allow the runner to reach and a run to score. But the safe at first call is overturned upon review, and the Cards take game two with the 8-5 final.
