Should be ashamed. Meaningless bowl. Two chances to win. Don't go for it. Be courageous for crap's sake. It's the ??? bowl. Try to set the record field goal - with the best kicker in the nation btw. Go for two after you score, ffs. Play some Beamer ball in the bowl game. Does anyone really care if you lose at this point? smdh

Dang! When I switched over to the other meaningless bowl (thank you, ESPN, for a triple header), it was already 17-10!

I really enjoyed those games. I each, the winner came back from two scores down to win. Yeah, Pitt needed to go for it. They seemed to have the better team and the momentum.

For regular season and non-playoff games, what's so bad about a tie? Play one overtime and if the game is still tied, it ends in a tie. It's OK to recognize that two teams played so evenly that nobody deserves to lose.
I agree up to a point. I'm not in favor of just 1 OT, but I always thought starting from 35 yard line as opposed to the 25 could eliminate the almost certainty of a score. If after 2 OT's and the game is still tied, then you can call it a day.

You lost me at "meaningless." What makes it meaningless? Was score not kept? Are the wins & losses not officially added to teams & head coaches records? Was it televised? Were tickets sold? Were bets placed on it?

IMO, just put 8 minutes or so on the clock and let them play - making teams go for 2 every score. Maybe even 15 more minutes.

If it's tied after regulation, wipe the scoreboard, reset the clock to 15:00 Q1, give everyone in the stands time to change their Depends and try it all over again.

Or how about after 1 or 2 "regular" overtimes, you just let each kicker try successively longer field goals, lengthening by 5 yards each time? It makes as much sense as a 2-point contest.

Just put the ball at the 50 instead of the 25. Having games being decided on a stupid 2 point play is ridiculous. That would cut down on the endless OT’s.
