Coming off quite an impressive year I assume he's heading somewhere.
Headed to Nebraska with Scott Frost. There apparently was a fallout between Pat Narduzzi and Mark Whipple when the administration and staff found out he was talking to Scott Frost about a job opportunity. It happens. Going to Nebraska is weird though especially with Frost having 4 straight losing seasons. I sense he will not be at Nebraska long if they have another sub 500 year.Coming off quite an impressive year I assume he's heading somewhere.
So is RB Kenneth Walker from Michigan St. I don’t blame athletes that are projected 1st round draft picks for opting out. There’s millions at stake so I get it.Pitt is also going to be playing without its quarterback, he bypassing to prepare for the draft.
Bowl games have become meaningless except for the playoffs

Agreed. It's a chance to catch a glimpse of what's to come next year (albeit the term "glimpse" because it's not a make or break to the results on the field next year).Look at it this way - you get to crack open a beer and watch your team play a football game over the holidays. While it's disappointing that the QB and RB aren't playing, think of how exciting it will be for Pitt fans if their freshman backup QB (I don't know if he's a freshman or not, just making a point) comes out and throws for 400 yards or something. Or the RB back-up runs over fools Michael Bush style. Personally I enjoy these game for what they are. In Louisville's case, I am looking forward to the "Three Yards and a Cloud of Dust Bowl" and rooting to end with a 7-6 record, Satterfield 2-0 in bowls as the Cardinal HC, and optimistic for next year.
The Louisville - Airforce game is going to be so old school they should play in leather helmets. Enjoy it!
Not sure why they would need to owe money back to the school. These schools and the NCAA make billions off of these athletes. A scholarship to the university is like losing $5 out of pocket. It's minuscule in comparison to what these schools make.I see nothing wrong with putting a clause in the “scholarship” that if you don’t play in ALL games your expected to, because you may hurt your chance for big bucks, you owe the cost of the 2-3-4-5 years of tuition room and board to the school.
If they’re “quitting” for “big bucks” they can pay for their audition.
You don’t. I do.Not sure why they would need to owe money back to the school. These schools and the NCAA make billions off of these athletes. A scholarship to the university is like losing $5 out of pocket. It's minuscule in comparison to what these schools make.
Of course those of us who already paid our way will be SOL.I hear the government is going to give everyone free college education so none of this will matter.
In addition to turning your back on the university, you also send a “it’s all about me” message to your “brothers” that are committed and playing in the bowl game.
As for paying back part of the scholarship, yes prorate it by games available and willing to participate excluding injuries.
I hear the government is going to give everyone free college education so none of this will matter.
I agree. We can agree to disagree.
Guess it depends. If I understand the question properly, it goes back to the 1.6% of athletes that ever make the NFL (or become a future HOFer). Once athletes are done with college, it all depends on their field of study. If they don't have that career at the next level, should they be obligated to pay back a scholarship?I agree.
But……Just one more question.
If not for the scholarship afforded these athletes by “corps” making Billions…what is their future earning potential?
