Scanning over the Pitt board lately and their main topics these days are their need for an on campus stadium or the need to tarp the upper decks at Heinz Field.

Is it just me, or does anyone else remember a few years ago when the Pitt faithful were telling us what a huge advantage they had because they were playing in a Pro Stadium ?

Doubtful if any Pittiots will respond but we all know they read the WVU boards.

Not sure why Pitt has struggled lately, seems like a lifetime ago Dorsett and Marino!

They need to build a nice on campus stadium, something similar to what TCU or Houston have...one that seats about 45,000. When they play an opponent that can dictate a need for more seats, then they can rent out Heinz and sell out the stadium. I think they come close to selling out when they play ND, WV, or PSU.

Maybe that's the answer...they play such good HS football in the area they should be able to have talent on the field!

I think the ever revolving coaching carousel up there is the biggest part of their problem. Since 1980 WVU has had 4 coaches - Nehlen, DickRod, Stewart, and Holgorsen. In that same time span Pitt has had 14 head coaches.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Pittsburgh_Panthers_head_football_coaches

And that list doesn't include Mike Haywood who was the head man at Pitt for a whopping 16 days.

That, and the fact that they don't have a stadium of their own and basically no fan base........

Good point...hard to build continuity with the Coach changing every other season.
