oops. I remember switching around links, as I was trying to find a better version (i.e., presentation in an article) of the USA team. The USA team is always announced earlier than the PA team.

I'm not sure if there have been changes, but here is what was announced in Feb. for the USA team:

Just curious. Does anyone know how old these two are?

Are you talking about age or class? They are currently juniors. I am not sure if either repeated 8th grade though like a lot of kids do.

Hmm. Ok. So Bo is an 18 yr old Jr. He’ll be 20 when he enters college. That’s sort of what I suspected.
Not sure what the suspicion is or why it's relevant. Josh Barr (RS FR) is 21.

He’s a reclass. I figured as much. I hate that trend. He looks like an 18 yr old wrestling 15-16 yr olds in most of his matches. It’s relevant because that’s the reality in most of his PIAA matches. It’s an advantage, otherwise, nutty parents wouldn’t do it. FYI, I was 21 when I graduated college.

I was 21 when I graduated too.

But that ship sailed long ago. People complained about Jaret Lane and he was HS Class of 2018. Many if not most of the top HS kids have been for some time. BTW, I think you're making a major assumption of the ages of Bassett's opponents. Some are 15-16 ... but most? Some of them are hold-backs too. And a lot of Bassett's opponents, doesn't matter what his age is.

Levi is a notable exception, and he's showing the downside of the hold-backs -- they sometimes get surpassed in college.

You are probably right about many of his opponents. He does, however, look much more mature and physically developed than most of his opponents, at least, at a minimum in the district matches I saw. What did you mean by the Levi point? I don’t follow? Are you insinuating that he is age appropriate for grade level and surpassed his older opponents? If so, Kasak is the same. He is age appropriate as well.

Yes. Levi turned 17 in the August before his HS SR year. So he still had room on his development curve, that many others didn't have in college.

You're right about Kasak. He won PJW 9-10 in 2010, and then won PJW 11-12 in 2011. So he was 11 in May 2011, which would make him 18 or more likely 19 now depending on his exact birthday.

I'm sure Bassett is much more physically developed than others at D6 AA -- normal kids aren't lifting at 4:45 am. Also doubt it matters at D6 AA -- he's too good anyway. I suspect it will catch up to him in college, when his physical advantage gets negated and his competitors train with D1-level coaches and partners.

Actually, a lot of programs lift and practice at 5:00 now. My son’s teams did it. Workouts and drill before school. More drilling and live practice after school. You are right, he is much better than everyone else now, but, as you said, that may level off in college and we will see if the Brands bros are able to develop him even further. They tend to drive their wrestlers into the ground until they are physically spent.

I think you may have misspoke about the years Kasak competed in PJW. I think he took third in 9-10 in 2015. Which makes him 19, turning 20, which is common for a college sophomore. He won a U17 World Silver medal in the summer of 2022.

Extra strength idiot pills kicked in! I read it from the article below and still typed in the wrong years.

It was 2016 (9-10) and 2017 (11-12). He was 11 in May 2017, which would make him 19 in May 2025.

Looks like DT is getting quite the stud in Ladarion Lockett.
Yes he is -- though to be completely fair, Bode Marlow was the backup choice after Asher Cunningham withdrew.

Asher beat Marlow 18-0 at West Regionals, then 12-6 in the state finals.

Lockett is very, very good -- and IMO he'll be a podium contender in 2026 unless Taylor portals in someone. But this win isn't the best evidence.

I still don’t get why no Marcus Blaze for the USA team. Anyone know why? Did he decline?
