Plainfield North.....a developing story?

The Flyers outgained the Glenbard North by more than 200 yards of total offense, but a pair of turnovers deep in their own territory -- both fumbles by Thomas -- set the Panthers up for touchdowns.

Sunkett was in ear of the All-America wide receiver, telling Thomas he owed his teammates something big. Thomas finished the game with 7 catches for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns.

"I just kept telling him 'Come on, Jeff, you owe us one,' and he said, 'I'm going to get you one.' That's Jeff Thomas, one of the best athletes in the county. That's what's expected of him. I love that kid and he brought it home for us."

Estes, a University of Missouri commit, completed 9 of 15 passes for 209 yards and rushed for 103 more. Jarrell Anderson rushed 21 times for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns.

East St. Louis held a 6-point lead at the half, but Thomas' second fumble of the game set Glenbard North up for the go-ahead score, a 45-yard pass from Shane Conway to Greg Newsome.

The Flyers got the lead back, however, with a 5-play, 43-yard drive capped by Estes' 20-yard run to the corner of the end zone to make it 26-21.

But on Glenbard North's next possession, East St. Louis left Newsome uncovered and all alone on the right sideline. Conway sped the count and hit Newsome on a quick slant that sprung him on a 77-yard touchdown sprint that put the Panthers back on top.

I don't think you did your homework. I posted part of an article from the daily herald...Newsome is #5 and he was the one making the big plays....#6 is Henderson and is better on defense. I sat with his dad the whole game. I eat and sleep high school football, especially the Flyers.

Newson had the touchdown on the 5 yard route and missed tackle as well as the last touchdown for GN when he was uncovered. I know specifically what I am talking about. Although Newson ended up with the most yardage (2 plays for over 50 yards each) it was
#6 and #1 who were extremely difficult to cover. Pressure on the QB covered a lot of it up as he was sacked a lot during the game. Since both are juniors and #1 is a senior we will see who the go to guy will be next year. Newson is no where near as fast as #6. I thought #5 was a good safety but more the recipient of bad play for both TDs.

#1 made a few amazing catches. He is going to northwestern. Yes, #6 and #1 was 2 of the best on GBN but do you remember ESL first touchdown? Thomas shook him off the line of scrimmage and went 77 yards for the score. I don't think GBN had a highlight play better than that! One on one and you make a defender fall!!!

No one said powerhouse. Just outlining why I believe PN is slightly more talented. If you can't understand that at this point I don't know what to tell you.
I understand that one big victory against a good team and a bunch of wins against **** teams doesn't mean a team is ultra talented. Glenbard North is far more talented. Ask DVC coaches and fans (ya know a real conference?), ask college coaches what they think.

Yes that was right after #1 caught a pass on him. Pretty special kid on the field

You are wasting your time arguing with a coach deeply invested in the program. PN is having a good run and best of luck but to start to compare them to GN is ridiculous....

Ha. Not deeply invested at all. I have just seen them play and was very impressed. I am actually from down state. Then you and the other guy that have no clue about PN and seem to be very invested in GBN got very offended and argued my facts and logic with absolutely no substance. I just gave my opinion and said I respect someone else's opinion that GBN is more talented. But to say my opinion is ridiculous when you haven't seen PN is laughable.

I never wanted to even start a debate and to be honest I really don't care either way.

Aholler,

I'm thinking prowler may know a little something about the PN program. If it's who I think it is, he was involved with the Plainfield Prowler youth organization and he would have much more insight into the team and players than yourself. Both teams are talented but the balance here certainly tips to Glenbard North.

Certainly? That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I respect that. I definitely respect someone's opinion more that is close to both programs that can give an educated opinion. But the certainty is hilarious to me.

aholler....TPF is a Fenwick guy. If both PFN and Fenwick win their next game, he can get an up close and personal look at PFN. Nothing like deciding an argument on the field, since praising PFN seems to be encountering some resistance.

Not only have I seen PN and GBN both play but I have coached and watched those seniors at PN from the time most of them were 11, oh yeah also I have a kid in the program...I'm pretty sure I have more of a clue than your view from "downstate" (questionable as your handle is pretty comparable to a what a certain coach in the system uses on Twitter?)
Like I said they are having a good run and hope the continue on...but not comparable as an overall program. Anyone can win any given day...I'm rooting for PN to continue on!

Don't know why you are getting defensive but I said I totally respect someone's opinion that has seen both teams up close. Funny that anytime I talk about a team I get accused of being a die hard fan or closely involved with their team, which I assure you I am not when it comes to PN.

Prowler, thank you for the confirmation on my suspicions. I hope your family is well and enjoying the Fall. It's interesting that aholler(assuming he really is a downstater) can't see how we might have more insight into the kids playing for these two different programs.

You don't have more insight for the kids playing for PFN. I would say he had a hand in the speed in which those kids currently play.

Another convincing win for PFN....30-7. Should be a good one next week against the Friars.

Wow. Just catching on the the PFN story and love it. Sounds like you guys are putting a dream run for the ages. Giving up 34 points against some high quality offenses over the last seven weeks is phenomenal.

I know I am late to the party, but can someone describe the style of defense PFN uses?

Plainfield North hasn't even won a playoff game in its 10 year history up until this year and they have a chance to go downstate this week, I'd say that's fairly remarkable.

North defense has a smaller defensive line with plenty of quickness and speed, big and strong linebackers, and great team speed from the DB positions. Very tough to move the ball on this defense. I think Fenwick will need to make a couple of big plays.
