I have been critical of Lujan and thought he was a tremendous disappointment. Today he was fantastic, I thought the play calling was a complete 180. He was scheming guys open and ran a lot of play that I do not feel we had seen prior to this. Was today a philosophic change by Lujan or did Stone just finally execute what Lujan was asking him to do?

Probably both along woith the motvation that the end of the season is approaching and this game would be huge in terms of bowl eligibility and this is the last home game before we move back home to Central Street - this will be a trivia question 20 years from now.

Whatever it was, it was a very well called game. Great job by one and all, not just those two.

Very few dumb plays. There was a slow developing sweep to Himon in the red zone that looked like Mick McCall, and maybe two other where his call got us out of rhythm, but I'm nitpicking. I think the flea flicker wasn't terrible, it was one of the few where protection broke down. Good game for boy wonder

100% the latter.

Lujan has certainly got better and I don’t believe it is entirely due to Stone playing better. He seems to have removed the 2 or 3 inexplicable calls he had every game a year ago. He has also become less predictable and I think that is a significant change.

Wondered myself and checked out some Gopher sites for their take. Seems a lot of guys were missing on their D and some young replacements didn't always execute. So may have been a combination of some better calls on our side and some mess-ups on theirs.

Weird how when your o line is kicking *** and your receivers are getting open and your QB is throwing accurately suddenly the same concepts and plays you’ve been calling all year go from questionable to genius.
(I did notice several more uses of the read option with Stone one the field, which I’ve been calling for and was effective, so that’s my one comment. Could be dictated by how MN’s edges play, though).

I noticed from the start that Stone was more decisive in his throws. Lujan got him going with some quick timed passes and made him do less processing. Also seemed to call more play actions that had their defense off balance and gave Stone some more open looks. And that halftime witchcraft by Braun did wonders - Stone indeed was fearless the second half to the tune of 15-15 passing. So credit to Lujan and to Braun for their coaching masterpiece.

We scored on EVERY possession in the 2nd half (not counting the muffed punt because that was never a possession). I don't recall the last time we've done that against a BIG foe. It was glorious and fun. And necessary, of course. 😉

Essentially, the Cats scored on all but one possession, the 3 and out that set Minny up for a score at the end of the first half. I am excluding the muffed punt and the 12 second end of half possessions.
