I read where there was a players only meeting yesterday, maybe just the defense?
I didn't get any details just read that it happened. Anyone hear about this?

Interesting...you are think it was a meeting about "time to put up or shut up"? The players only meeting can be tricky: either a sign of a team coming together for a nice run or a sign of falling apart...I am hoping for the former.I read where there was a players only meeting yesterday, maybe just the defense?

As we all know talk is cheapI just called my "insider". The D had a separate meeting where Bonitto, Grimes, Winfrey and Thomas led a very spirited meeting. The D saw much more film of Texas this week than prior opponents. I heard the term for "more fluid mobile zone defense" for the first time. Players covering larger spaces with more movement prior to the snap.
The O met. The O Line addressed penalties and Swenson and Hayes pledged to play harder and smarter. The O Line committed to giving skilled players more time to get into their routes. The skilled guys talked about crisper and quicker routes.
Special teams met. This unit has been solid for the most part. The penalty that cost the kick off return was a blemish that could have been avoided with better coverage.
Yes it is but silence is cheaper. Are you a pessimist by nature or was it learned? I'm curious, what in your life causes you to be so negative? As we all know talk is cheap
Actually I would much rather them just shut their mouths and go play. OU has had too many players lately that talk crap and fail to back it up on the field. If that fires you up then by all means go for it. I'll live in realityYw

Give us an example. Which players talked crap lately? What was said and when? It seems OU has made strides in reducing the stupid chatter on the field. Radley-Hiles is a Husky. Several team meetings have addressed the taunting rules. You can be assured the horns down will less visual this year.Actually I would much rather them just shut their mouths and go play. Not sure but it's an interesting point. Maybe the Horns Down applies to the Big XII officiating rules.I thought I saw some Arkansas players doing the whorns down during their game with Texas but were not penalized. Is that just a penalty in the Big 12?
Dollars to donuts they will probably ask for it to be and get told by the SEC office to go pound sand. Unless the lil babies had the SEC agree to it as part of the move.Side note: I bet a dollar to a doughnut that the horns down is not a penalty in the SEC.
Would your reality be shattered if you knew that the OU squads meet every Monday for a players only meeting?Actually I would much rather them just shut their mouths and go play. According to the date of his post the meeting he mentioned was after Monday?Would your reality be shattered if you knew that the OU squads meet every Monday for a players only meeting?
Oh yes I would be so devastatedWould your reality be shattered if you knew that the OU squads meet every Monday for a players only meeting?
Its been a trend in recent years. At the beginning of the year they tell us how they are much improved etc. etc. and it doesn't come to fruition. Agree on Radley-Hiles although he wasn't the only one. In all fairness, this is the way too many kids are these days. Make an average play and they think they are the superbowl MVP. Just do your job and stop yacking so much.....no need to talk. The horns down thing is a joke IMO.Give us an example. Which players talked crap lately? What was said and when? How about players who cover large spaces after the snap? These are the players we've lacked recruiting since Venebles left.Players covering larger spaces with more movement prior to the snap.
Someone described our zone coverage as looking like our players were covering a single blade of grass. How about players who cover large spaces after the snap? These are the players we've lacked recruiting since Venebles left.

Speaking of yacking so much.... and then nothing. No names etc. Enjoy the game. Its been a trend in recent years. Players playing at OU are recruited and therefore expected to play and win big games and to improve every game. But if a closed door players-only team meeting is deemed necessary, let it happen....and let it reap benefits.I read where there was a players only meeting yesterday, maybe just the defense?

Hows that players only ra ra meeting working out for us? Bunch of imposters
