Players potential scoring averages for Duke and UNC 2016-17

The thing with Grayson is that he was a very efficient scorer last year under duress. He shot high percentages while being keyed on by opposing defenses, with his team needed him to score, and with very little rest. Other teams also played him, and Duke in general, very physically, knowing Duke couldn't respond in kind due to depth issues.

I could see him averaging similar pts per game this year with less field goal attempts. Hopefully, he shoots even higher percentages due to more rest and defenses being less able to key on him. Additionally, with Duke being so loaded and likely to be ahead at the end of games, he will get even more FT attempts, which would also make up for possibly less field goal attempts. Last, Duke should be a better rebounding team and more able to apply pressure this year. That could lead to more fast break attempts, where he is lethal.

For the record, no ACC team has ever had seven players average in double figures in scoring and only two have had six, neither of them Duke.

Yeah I really doubt we get 6 with double figures. I think the best candidates would be Grayson, Jayson, Amile, Luke and Frank. As good as Harry is, I think it's going to be a little while before he can adjust his scoring to the collegiate level. He has some things to improve such as post footwork and a jump shot. His motor is his best skill right now.

I think Matt could also be a candidate for double figures, but he, Grayson, Luke, Frank and Jayson are all going to be sharing minutes at 2-3 positions. Luke, Frank and Matt are all going to be +/- 3 points around the 11 ppg mark with some occasional "blow-up" type of games.

I don't see Marques or Chase scoring double figures. We just won't run that type of offense.

Really hoping that intense comp for playing time leads to some really good pressure D, which in turn leads to live ball turnovers and lot of points. If this team can force turnovers and be a good defensive rebounding team, the fast break could be awesome. Then, I could see 6 with double figures.

I don't think anyone could imagine the run Luke is on at least this early. Except for the poster last season who said Luke would average 19+ his freshman year. I guess he was closest?

I honestly had more confidence in Luke than my projection of 9 ppg, but I remember one person asking Laura Keeley if you could pencil Frank Jackson in as a starter, and Keeley said, "use a pen." So naturally I thought Luke would be the 5th guard in the rotation behind Allen-Tatum-Jackson and a Senior Captain in Matt Jones. I was way, way off on both Luke and Amile. Happy to see their progressions, though
