There have been many issues that have been called out as reasoning for Franklin’s eventual failure - but his inability to scout, recruit, and develop QBs was his biggest weakness.

Could you imagine how bad next year’s team would have been if Franklin stayed? Grunkameyer is not a P4 qb and he was Franklin’s qb heir apparent next year.

Kraft - please for the love of all that is good, don’t make me watch a slow, conservative, indecisive offensive in the forthcoming seasons. Whether it’s an offensive guru or someone that can recruit real talent, anyone is better than this mess.

You do realize that as a redshirt freshman Grunk was unexpectedly thrown into the lineup against 3 of the nation’s top 5 defenses, right?

GRUNK is throwing the ball well downfield. Kotelnicki is not helping him with those ridiculous throws behind the LOS and LOS throws to crossing WRs. How about throwing a quit hitter to the TEs?

Grunk stinks, gimme a break.

First read isn’t there and he sacks himself. Not to mention the horrible anticipation and placement on the pick. Another missed eval by Franklin & Co.

Kraft fired Franklin partially mid season IMHO to see what PSU had for coaches..These coaches without Franklin were free to call their own plays and schemes. They have fallen flat on their faces. Get rid of them all and a large chunk of players as well. Time to start completely over

For next year, I think every offensive skill player except for TE will be a portal player.

We can't tell what we're going to get for a HC and a new staff, but I'll suggest that there is only a chance that two will be holdover from this staff, Terry and Dex.

Yeah he looked great down the stretch. Missing wide open receivers and tucking and running after his first option isn’t open.

Grunk is a RS Freshman and he's been showing improvement.

I’m giving Grunk a pass. What proper development did he have prior to being thrown into this lava pit? The play calling doesn’t help. Yes he miss some throws but he also had some brass set throws down the middle. He seems like he’s playing to win, not playing afraid to make a mistake. Who knows how’d he be if he had OSU’s coaching.

IMO, keeping kotelnecki cost Franklin his job

I’m thinking any of Drinkwitz (great offensive mind and brings Pribula and Zollers home), Brohm (not sexy, but seems a great fit), or one of the OC’s (Brady or Hartline) are the reboot they need to bring the offense into the 21st century.

Nowadays offense wins games. Drink, brohm, brady or Hartline. They should all be successful in bringing in transfers to reboot.

Grunk has not played bad at all. The biggest issues are the OC and the OL , specifically Dawkins. He’s been terrible all year, missed blocks and bad calls. Cousins at C probably fixes many issues but JF wouldn’t ever bench the guy.

Has Smith benched him or Shelton for that matter?

It was only his third game and he played against three of t h e top defenses in the college football.
Yeah I was critical of Grunk last week and am not completely sold on him but while he missed some throws in the first half he played much better in the second until AK insisted on going back to throwing passes at or behind the line of scrimmage. He also has faced the 1,2 and 4th rated pass defenses in his first 3 starts. He will need good pass protection going forward since he is slower afoot than Allar who will never be confused with Lamar Jackson.

Yeah, didn't consider him. In all honesty I think Dex and Howel move on of their own accord and I wouldn't blame them.
Agree. I think both move on with Franklin (one as DC and the other as OC). If it is VT it would be a geat place to going up the employment ladder. Hell, Howe has got to be ready (Dex surely is).

Add to that Franklin left Clifford and Allar in games we had well under control, missing valuable
playing time and teaching experience.
