Plus/Minus for Michigan game

Took longer to put this together because the play-by-play had a number of errors that could only be corrected by re-watching the game...
Coach Collins set a season-high for frequency of lineup changes in this game. 31 lineup switches in 40 minutes.
Prior record was 37 lineup changes in 50 minutes against Maryland.

Young, Berry and Beran played fairly well.
Pete Nance played quite poorly. Audige and Roper were negatives.

In the 2nd half, when Ryan Young was on the court, we outscored Michigan 15-8 .
In the 2nd half, when Pete Nance was on the court, we were outscored by Michigan 37-29.
Nance and Young played together for about 2 minutes, getting outscored 7-6.
So when Young played without Nance we "won" 9-1 over about 5 minutes, all when paired with Elyjah Williams.
Nance without Young "lost" 31-22 over about 13 minutes.

The "starters" played a total of 6 minutes together, opening each half, but never playing together after that.
They got outscored 15-11 in 6 minutes of action.

I love Roper, but I am not sold on the minutes he’s been playing since the WI game. It made sense to me to play him longer against WI as Audige was on Davis and Hepburn was having a heck of a game. Roper stepped up to slow him down.

But Berry is a more well rounded player who, though getting in foul trouble, is competent on defense. And, offensively, forces the other team to stick with him in a way that Roper does not.

Berry's defense and overall effort against Michigan was superb. Combine that level of play on defense with his shooting and he will see more of the floor again, no doubt. I really like Roper though, he's a player who seems to like the "dirty work" and I always have affection for those guys. Sanjay was like that.

I agree with both of you guys on Roper. He crashes the boards and defends. He is very willing to try to score inside. He has good instincts. I think he is a winner and not afraid at all. I don't know if he understands the offense yet (not uncommon).

If we changed our focus to a gritty, board crashing, street-fighting team, he'd be more effective. Thats how we beat Michigan State. Instead, its a crime to leave the 3 point line, so 4 guys get to stand around watching Young or Nance try to get a shot up in the paint.

Then when the shot goes up they all run back to protect against practically non-existent fast breaks.
