Anything to get the kids off the couch and out into the real world...while still staring at said world through their phone.

Me and a buddy of mine came up with something similar in like 09 but the technology was not quite there yet and this involved hunting treasure at various bars vs anywhere.

I love new technology and interesting use cases for it so it's neat to see people getting into augmented reality that doesn't involve porn.

It's a free app but you can also buy your way through the game as well, so I can see why the stock is up. Once VR becomes more mainstream you'll see alot more of these crazes.
Are you claiming to have come up with Geocaching?

Its not the ones walking around that are the problem - its the ones playing as they drive that are going to be fun to watch. From a distance.

I took a walk around the neighborhood yesterday for a little exercise and there were at least three cars with people slowly driving by or at a stop collecting Pokemon, and none of them had children in the car. That slow drive used to be the universal sign for a Pedo or a Stalker - now there's all kinds of mixed signals.

Imagine Cops are already fed up with it. Suspicious activity is at an all time high b/c of Heroin/Drugs, and now they'll be pulling over and questioning Pokémon players.

The Venn diagram of grown men playing this game and grown men who have never had sex is a perfect circle.

There must be a lot more immaculate conceptions than we ever expected with all the fathers playing with their own kids.

I love when people hate on other people for having fun. Most of you all must be so sophisticated that the rest of us mere mortals cannot comprehend how your lives even work. It's a free game that gets people off their butt and out walking around to find stuff. A little dorky? Absolutely, but I would rather be a dork than a dick.

It's not so much that the game is dorky as the game is bad. There's nothing to it. I tried the game and deleted it almost immediately.
Just a map and you walk around and hey a pokemon! let me press a button and then I get a picture of it I can look at later.
The guy who invented Pokemon has Aspbergers. That should tell you everything you need to know about the game. It's not a game. It's a bug collection with "stats."
I hate freemium games. They're not games that you learn to play or master. They just scratch a compulsive itch.

You all who ***** about adults playing mobile games are just as big of losers for posting thousands of times on an off-topic Kentucky sports forum, just sayin'. The better reason to hate Pokemon Go is the fact that you're basically mapping your house, neighborhood, city, and state for the CIA.

Big Brother back at it again.

I'm not hating on it as I don't know what the hell it is and I missed the Pokemon craze when it happened 15 years ago so I'm generally just completely confused and out of touch when it comes to this. But if one more person says "its gets people to walk" as a positive for the users then I don't really know what to say. That's not a positive. Describing the people that play this game as people that are otherwise stagnant anti-social shut-ins is not a defense or positive for the game and only reinforces the people being dicks about the losers playing it.

What's the next step? Like, how will this tie in with Virtual Reailty?

Final fantasy go.
Mortal kombat go
Zelda go
Grand theft auto go.

Nintendos stock is up 8% because of this game. They're getting ready to release a new system. 1000% guarantee they will use the tech from this game in more games.

Ok, and then we will eventually get to walk around with google glass or whatever living in a virtual real world?

Then the game is changed forever? When VR becomes the common thing. We give out free headsets on name of equality and education, or some ****, then next thing you know government is training people to carry out hits on targets under the guise of a VR game much like Mr Mugato programmed Derek Zoolander to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia, right?

Just proves there are a whole bunch of people with absolutely little to do and who are amused by the most inane things.

As another note along the same lines: Kim Kardashian announced that she's made about $45 million since 2014 on her app that allows players to 'be' her, i.e. shop, get paid to show up at parties, ***** and moan, get nailed by obnoxious black men (OK, I made that one up). $45 MILLION!!!! The sheer idiocy of the American public is astounding. There are people who will literally buy anything if it's an app. And we let those people vote - no wonder we have two sociopaths who are fighting it out to see who gets to screw the American public for the next 4-8 years.

I guess the gist of what I'm saying is just quit being a hater. We got enough haters in the world. Why hate over something else that other people like?

Cool concept, loved the game as a kid, Not interested in it as an adult, especially how time consuming it is.

I don't hate Pokemon Go, fine with my age group playing it, but I don't really want to hear about it either.

I have a lake trip this weekend for 3 nights with about 12 people. I already told everyone that they have 5 minutes of the trip to talk Pokemon, and then you can't mention it again the rest of the time. I already have to deal with all the nerd-bombs in my office yammering about it.

One person in the entire office knows that Tim Duncan retired.. and yet I can't go into the bathroom without four grown men giggling about their Pokemon.

We were supposed to go to the lake this weekend but the kids are now pushing to see if we can get a refund on our Lodge deposit so we can go to the Knoxville/Gatlinburg area for PGo. They saw on some PGo board that there will be a few "special" creatures released in that area starting early Saturday morning. Doesn't really matter to me as long as we can get our deposits back.

There is actually a subreddit called PokemonGoNSFW now. I'm sure you can imagine what kinds of things are being posted there.

Lmao congrats on moving around.

Some people are actually referring to playing this game as "exercise". I mean, Jesus. Same type of people that pat themselves on the back for taking the steps up a floor vs the elevator, I suppose. I guess it's okay, but it's sure not going to make you not fat.

Know of a guy that walked 7 miles first day it came out...if you are "that" into it, it will make you not fat...[laughing]

Catdaddy: My friend and I created this system of next work wiring that connects to each other that would pass along information to other people through these boxed machines that can be powered through your home's wireless hook up.

Me: You mean the internet through your computer?

Catdaddy: No no, this is an augmented information transaction. Not real world.

doesn't matter much if you walk 7 miles if you're also pounding 8 burgers and a pizza every day. That'll still keep ya fat.

"Pokemon FAT" needs to be a take off of Pokemon GO where you have to run to catch the little bastards. They're faster, more agile.

If you were pounding 8 burgers and pizza without the 7 miles, I think the 7 miles will help quite a bit.

But lets be honest - people will just play in their cars.
