Was thinking about who is able to vote today and thought it should be pretty simple. People that work for the govt shouldn't be able to vote. That demographic dwarfs most others. Most are likely vote in their own best interests (which happens to be that of the govt) over the people. More spending. More govt jobs.
Just like people that work for govt and resident aliens were the only ones that used to pay taxes (because they were living off of the people), I think we need to go back to truly republican ideals of govt.
The only people that should be able to vote are those that are working at minimum 9m out of the year, or those that have worked an avg of 9m per year before they reached retirement age. No work. No vote.
No citizen that isn't born of 2 natural citizens should be able to vote.
No parties should exist in the public sphere whose platform is opposed to our republican form of govt and our constitution. Any politician making a statement that our republic is either ending or going to be changed to a democratic, monarchist, anarchist (dws), socialist, or communist govt shouldn't be given a chance to say another word, but should be removed immediately from political races, ballots, and office if they make such a statement or enact such changes. If they resist, it should be made legal for them and any cabinet/employees to be removed bodily from office, or terminated.
Single issue legislation.
Mandated yearly budget surplus.
Term limits.
No more lobbying.
Election day a federal holiday.
In person voting with ID and proof of eligibility to vote.
Median income per spouse for reps, senators, judges, and executive branch employees plus travel, room and board, and a modest retirement.
Congress and executive branch do not receive pay when they are not in session or the govt is shut down.
No insider trading, with monitoring to the 2nd level of family up or down. None by spouses, children or grandparents, nieces/nephews or uncles/aunts or 1st cousins.
No welfare for foreign govts.
No bombing of other sovereign nations on behalf of other political entities or nations.
Death penalty for foreign influencers interfering in our govt, elections, and inciting or supporting violence in our country and territories. May be tried in absentia.
No more diplomatic immunity for foreign govt assets on US soil.
Equal rights under the law with no factional preferences or special rights.
Homogenized sentencing. Take the sentencing of violent and white collar offenders out of AG/Judges hands.

a better plan would be ... if you pay federal income tax, then you get to vote. if you don't pay federal income tax, then you don't. AND, for tiebreaker, you get to vote once for every dollar you pay in federal taxes.
a lot of the other stuff, single issue bills for example, i agree with.

Trump really did DeSantis a favor by calling him a "globalist" during the primaries. DJT made himself a pin cushion for the media to try to rebuild and bolster this economy for whomever runs next. RD has proven he's Florida first and more than even Trump has been America First on some issues. It's been a huge bonus for RD going forward imo.
There are still some things he hasn't done to clean up his state that I wish he would, but he's done a good job in many areas.

56 years ago, new DW & I spent 2 nights tenting in Acadia NP then 4-5 night tenting & canoeing in Baxter State Park in the north of ME. The latter was 50 miles in & out on gravel/rocky logging roads.
