Here's the honest truth of it, and what's going to be allowed........ Because political discussion tends to become inflammatory, it creates a whole lot of issues for the moderators. They have a lot of things to do here, and I don't want them to have to worry about policing a political thread on...
I am going to allow this thread to stay open, but I am taking over all the moderation of it myself. Please read the following:
Because political discussion tends to become inflammatory, it creates a whole lot of issues for the moderators. They have a lot of things to do here, and I don't want them to have to worry about policing a political thread on this forum.
So.... I am going to allow a politics thread. But a few rules....
1) ALL political discussion on this site should stay in that thread. Even if you think your tongue in cheek joke about 46 or 45/47 should land well, just avoid it unless it's in the political thread on the Paddock. The good thing about having a political thread is you can give people an outlet to say what they want but it stays in one place.
2) Avoid discussion of race, racial jokes, etc. This goes for comments towards all races, white or black, etc.
3) Have thick skin. Don't come to the political thread if you're going to be offended easily. That is not a green light to personally attack others, name call, etc. It's not a free for all. But don't run to me with complaints unless what's in question is really egregious (illegal, dangerous, threatening).
4) Direct all moderating requests, complaints, notes, etc to ME (private message me, not another moderator, right here on this forum). Just be aware, I am not going to be happy about moderating issues from the political thread, because it's not near the top of my priority list unless there's something dangerous or illegal. So I'm going to be inclined to just hand out quick bans for posts that are not in line with the rules, and don't be surprised if I tell you to just get thicker skin or go to another thread/forum here.
