After watching the results of the NYC election with only 12% of the morons turned out to vote ... I officially hate that sh**hole city. As a nation, we suck in our ability to participate in self-governance to maintain American values. Sad part is that no one gives a sh*t. The Muslim Marxists are elated as well as the dumbest part of the American electorate. Same in London. Not one of us could move to any Arab country and do the same with the stated intention of "taking over a sovereign nation". This is what mass immigration and desperate corrupt politicians get you ... ALL BY DESIGN. It's easy to fool someone but damned near impossible to convince them that they have been fooled. WASH RINSE REPEAT. God help us.

Hypocrisy is a helluva drug. We are about to go back to his coldbeer days when he use to spam this thread like midseason tweak.

The fact they weren't a surprise is in and of itself bad. New Jersey recently had a gop governor. Virginia had youngkin who was popular. Yet both states now have dem women as gov.

An open socialist and Muslim won nyc. JD vance's brother couldn't win mayor of Cincinnati despite the massive wave of crime the last several months.

Maine went further left instead of towards the center.

So no they weren't surprises but that doesn't in any way negate the very disturbing trend to the left when the right should be winning on key issues in all these cities and states.

I do think there's a contingency of Americans who aren't quite sure what to make of Trump's second term. For things in his control and things out of his control, doesn't seem to be going as well as the first term. Now I didn't expect him to be able to peel back inflation. But, that's what people see and want. And so far, things are kind of exactly the same as they were a year ago.

I believe that there's only so much a single person can do even as the president. But I'm not everyone and I'm sure some moderates are being pulled left because things simply haven't gotten better economically.

The Democrats would have to be perfect to win back either the House or Senate.

I just searched youtube, to find an article that explains this. It was there yesterday, scrolled through 4 pages of CNN and various other liberal news outlets/stories and never saw it.

That isn't supposed to happen, according to the algorithm. I think Google is putting it's thumb, errrrrr micro-penis on the scale.

I am killing it in my investments but I have not seen much relief in overall prices(food, utilities, etc). Only thing I have really noticed is gas has come down a bit. I think some of this is corporate greed and refusing to lower prices as long as folks keep paying it but sooner or later Trump has to start showing the real receipts for the majority of the country to feel better about the economy.

I agree. The shortcomings are in the messaging. They are in the right on every issue but expect the public to already understand. The public is stupid and it takes repeated, varied attempts of messaging to get it through their thick skull.

The shutdown is the perfect example. The vast majority of people are clueless the gop offered the continuing resolution loads of times. Instead, they give the sound bite about the dems shutting it down for illegals.

The latter is definitely true, but if you include the explanation with some detail about the cr and how many times they said no; it would be way more effective.

IDK man.. it really isn't much better by me, but that could be more of a regional/state thing as well. I'm certainly not blaming Trump for not being able to make Milk prices go down.

But.. for me.. gas prices are the same (maybe a smidge lower), grocery bills haven't budged. My work insurance went up, home owners insurance up. Cost of goods still the same. Again, not blaming Trump at all, but I;m not everyone. And if people are still in economic distress they're going to start to pin it on whoever is in power. Sadly, I think the economy has been on the wrong track for long before Trumps 2nd turn. Like the tech job market was in real trouble, that didn't happen because Trump won his 2nd term.

The housing market is interesting. My big prediction is that as boomers really start to get into their golden years, we are going to see a yearly influx of boomer homes hitting the market. It's an unfortunate reality of life. Most know I lost my mom recently. But this is a perfect example of what will happen, that I went through: A boomer will go into assisted living, or pass away, and that house will have to go to the child/children. The child will either keep it as they need a home (removing a buyer), or if they already have a home one will get sold (adding supply back).

Boomers own anywhere from 41-45% of homes. That supply will inevitably be relinquished and I think thats going to really open up the housing market and flood the following generations with wealth.

Anecdotally, anyone can find an example of the economy being worse, but that's not how it works, for obvious reasons.

So far, his tariffs are feeding inflation to the tune of around a half a percent.

A lot of them are putting everything into an irrevocable trust, to protect it from Medicare look back, and inheritance tax.

I watched a friend last year, spend his last 11 months in a Medicare approved nursing home. I'm telling you right now, as Cypress Hill sang, "I Ain't Goin' Out Like That." I'm setting up measures, and I'm not afraid to die.

"U.S. factory activity retreated at a slightly sharper pace this month, as production fell into contraction, according to a survey of manufacturing firms.

While there were gains in new orders in August followed by production in September, those short gains didn’t appear to translate into sustained growth for the sector, a reflection of continuing economic uncertainty, Spence added.
The index for production in particularly fell into contraction after growing in September. New orders and employment also contracted in October, the data showed."

The only way you get relief in prices is deflation. As you say, gas is one.

Convenient time frame. Since April - start of tariffs - rate has increased from 2.3% to 3.0% in Sept.
