I understand the sentiment. Republicans in this case are definitely doing so to buy support. They don't care about them sincerely. This move (if it even happens) is the steak and lobster meal before sending troops to die in Venezuela in my opinion.
As far as spending in the military, I agree we need to shrink the military's budget and also use that money for more beneficial reasons, like for VA hospitals and care - things that Republicans generally do not like.
