I thought this was great and an interesting take (plus his brother was an alcoholic who died of it). And as stated below his own chief of staff Susan Wiles made the observation:

If you look at the phenotype that performs better than anyone else in extreme situations…hunters, warriors, fighter pilots, EMTs, etc…they have the variant of the COMT gene that drives rapid clearance of excess dopamine in the prefrontal cortex. These people perform better and are calmer under pressure. But because their brains are eating dopamine 4x faster than a normal person, they are prone to boredom when the pressure is off.
"In a classroom, a kid with this gene looks like they have an attention deficit because they are bored. In a crisis, they turn into a high performance machine. It’s why I’ve long argued that ADHD isn’t a disease or disorder, but an important personality type without which you can’t have a society.
This gene is a root cause for a lot of alcoholics because alcohol consumption initially spikes dopamine, but because the dopamine is rapidly cleared they drink more and more to chase that feeling.
