I live in Iowa and Iowa is the only state doing this correctly. Any food that is taxed is banned from purchase using snap benifits. Why should I pay with my tax dollars to people to buy candy, soda or anything that doesn't have flour in it. Most of those foods have no value to the body. It only causes more obesity thus creating more pressure (costs) on our health care system. What we need to do is our governemt stop subidizing the sugar industry (corn syrup) etc and help the farmers pay to grow healthy fresh foods. Cargill is huge in iowa (corn) and they make corn syrup to put in these bad foods. If I see corn syrup on the label I don't buy it. Our bodies can not process it correctly and it turns to fat in our bodies. If you use our money to live, then I can say you cant buy certain foods that are bad for you. It's common sense.
