For those unaware, the Met Gala, or Met Ball, formally called the Costume Institute Gala or the Costume Institute Benefit, is an annual fundraising gala held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. This year's theme celebrates the life of fashion designer/icon Karl Lagerfeld (which is why you're seeing so much Chanel). As an aside, I saw Karl Lagerfeld once in Paris - wife and I were having a drink at Cafe de Flore on Blvd. St. Germain and this Mercedes Maybach rolls up to the newspaper stand, and Lagerfeld and his assistant get out. He buys up about 25 different papers and magazines. And he was in full Karl gear too (ponytail, black suit, sunglasses, leather gloves).....anyway.
