Poll: So who wins the 2016 DuPage Valley Conference?

I like Waubonsie here to win the DVC. They had a great year last year going as far as the class 8A state semi's and I like their team this year again. Really like the strength of the DVC with the addition of the valley schools.

But seriously, with the schemes in high school (much like in college), talent and experience in the secondary and at wideout is huge. My Panthers have both. QB is a third area, and while not a name people know, from all acouunts they have one that can make the plays to win a North game.

Everyone continues to under estimate the Huskies. Well watch out! This team is stacked with talent and has been greatly overlooked in the talk. Been a rough few years but the Huskies will make noise because they are deep. More then one or two standout players like most teams. You heard it here first!
They don't deserve a single vote to win DVC, not one. They already have 2 so don't play the disrespect card, already way too much respect from this board.
I really like Wheaton North they return a lot of talent and have a good JR class. If the can get by WWS in week 1 they will be tough to beat.

WWS will be fine this year, they have some talent but will be young.
It's going to be a battle with 3 maybe 4 teams that have a good chance to take the conference crown. If I had to place a bet and could only pick 3 of the 9 teams in the DVC....I would go with WV, GN, NV in my top 3. Agree with Clownbaby that WN could be a very good choice to include into a top 3 pick as well.

Thanks for the advise. Don't want to get to far ahead but NNHS has some talent and shouldn't be overlooked, which was my comment. To say they don't deserve one vote seems to be a comment slightly ahead of itself! Let the games speak for themselves.
You must not know how things work here. Talent is nice and hopefully North contends for the playoffs and DVC this year. I honestly mean it when I say that'd be great. The thing is you're clearly biased so this conversation is pointless but respect is earned on the field not on a message board. Preseason hype and rankings are based on the previous year, there is simply no other wayto judge teams at this point. Hopefully North returns a lot of talent and is poised for a big year but why on earth would someone who is not biased like you pick them to WIN THE DVC, based off the product they've put on the field that last few years? That's not to say they don't prove people wrong, it happens every year, but to think they deserve respect because you're son is on the team is silly. After what North has done the last few years that respect will have to be earned. Good luck to mwr1970 Jr this season.
I love people that talk from reading last years news papers but hasn't watched one pre season 7 vs 7 or gone to one practice. My bias is based on actual observation not three years of news paper articals. Perhaps you are the one who doesn't understand how it works. Again, I'm simply saying they are underestimated. We shall see!

Yes first several games 3-5 is what I heard from the horses mouth. Owen is a great kid from a great family, I hate to see what happened to him going into his senior year and hope nothing but the best for him. I'm looking forward to watching him play for Navy over the next few years!
I'm sure the QB situation will work itself out over the next few weeks. Bastable has tools to use and I hear the Wisconsin kid is quite good as well. Will McClellan get a shot at being the go to back this season?

Could the North squad be much improved this year...sure they could, but the facts are that they could also have a very hard time winning a game even within the Naperville schools. Remember this poll was who will win the DVC not who will be improved from last seasons outing. I believe that North will be better than last year, hell they may even make the playoffs but winning the DVC is a longshot at best!

That's a shame about Owen - hopefully he makes it back on the early side of the estimate.
On a positive note - I think NV is also getting back one of the Rattigan brothers that got hurt last year?
They have a very senior dominated team this year (last year a ton of juniors started). NV should be a very good team this fall. I can't wait to see NV head to WV for the war of 204. The only bummer is they are not playing it in North Centrals stadium this year. Last year the regular season game was at NV and was sold out before the gates opened for the varsity game. WV can't hold enough people either in their stands for this game.... But I understand the rotation the district is doing to ensure that Metea gets into the mix for a north central game. I will be buying my tickets when they go on sale mid week at the school offices!!

The facts are any team could win and any team can lose. Your not saying anything. I'm aware what the poll was about and my comments don't change because you think you know best. My mind stays the same.......NNHS has a great chance. That's based on the play I've seen within the DVC so far. It's a long season and anything can happen. Just because you don't like the chances doesn't make it the gospel. Talk to you at the end of the year.
What is amazing is the top to bottom strength of the DVC. In my humble opinion - The teams that finish in the bottom half of the DVC this coming year (whoever they may be) would be playoff teams in the majority of the other conferences that have 8+ teams in the conference..
It's strange - I thought teams were switching conferences to make it "easier" to make the playoffs in Football and now we have the DVC with 9 teams and the newcomers are all very quality teams to add to an already loaded conference and it becomes much harder for each school to reach the playoffs. If WV, NV, MV stayed in the Upstate Eight Valley Division - they would be auto checked into the playoffs every year and they could schedule a tough non conference game for their 9th game without fear of missing the playoffs.
If the DVC stayed with the previous 6 teams - they could have operated like the CCL Blue.... (CCL Blue has 5 crazy tough teams in it - LA, MC, Prov, BR, St Rita) - play a super tough conference schedule - but try and balance the 4 or 5 non conference games to ensure a high degree of likelihood of winning 5+ games for playoff bid. you can still schedule a couple of big time non conference games and still be set up for a decent chance at the playoffs.
I also really like how Montini does it. In my humble opinion - they don't play in the toughest conference I have ever seen... BUT they schedule some killer non conference games. Kudos to Montini - I have always loved that they take on all who have the guts to put them on their schedules. In the future - I would love to see some Western burbs "crossovers" where Montini plays Naperville Central or, NV or WV.... home and away instead of all the DVC teams leaving the state to play in Indiana, Ohio, etc. for the one non conference game (granted this year was short notice and a lot of the DVC teams had no choice because everyone's schedules were set...)

Hey TPF523... "You must not know how things work here" What a condescending thing to say. What does that mean? Just about everyone here is biased. Mwr1970 probably has more personal info on the Huskies chances this year than you do. This is a poll and everyone here is entitled to their own opinion. NN has had a terrible run the last five seasons and they are no longer the powerhouse from the McKeon era. There are a few reasons, however, for Mwr1970's optimism... 1. They have a strong senior class (that won the DVC as sophomores), 2. They return almost everyone from last year, and 3. They have a new offensive coordinator... highly regarded Mike Fitzgerald. Coach Fitzgerald with two very successful runs at Marist and Wheaton St. Francis. Finally... excellent showing at the Grange 7 on 7 last week (runners-up at Varsity and Sophomore). They also finished 1st in the IL-77 7 on 7. Microphone drop.
IMO, Owen should have been the QB last year. I just hope we have a new D system. I still have nightmares of watching Lake Park and WV run all over that system.
Bones... At my age, the only two things that get me excited are Fogo De Chao and a competitive NN.
Watched a little bit of GW and NN in 7 v 7 last week. If you would have given the two groups of kids the same color jersey and asked me who was who, NN looked much more impressive.
Hopefully they will be able to block and scheme once the pads go on.
Looked really pedestrian in the back 5 outside of Justice Bradley. He has some ability. Outside of that no one really catches your eye.
But, they are going to dominate the line of scrimmage and play outstanding defense. I'm not sure 7v7 is their forte....

How about the Southwest Prairie? Would the Brook have any interest in that league? If so, I'm guessing the Prairie would need another addition to bring the number to 12.
