Pearl would have been an amazing hire 2 years ago. But, Mitch missed the boat on that one. Oats would still be my #1 choice.

Pearl wasn’t going anywhere he was about to retire and has now.

Are you concerned about him being so far removed from the current landscape of CBB?

Donovan was elite, but I worry it’s a gamble in this era

I think his experience in the NBA and dealing with players there may be a more valuable experience then some think.

Sadly it’s Mark Pope and it’s going to be one of the most toxic seasons in Kentucky history. It’s going to get really bad. Really, really bad. Like it could irrecoverably damage the program, bad. If I’m a transfer player or recruit, I’m not even touching an offer to play here for Pope next year.

But Pope isn’t going to be able to afford to bring back our current guys or buy top portal transfers for next year. Boosters are going to give Pope the Cal treatment and give him a fraction of what he got this year or even last year. I wouldn’t be shocked if we hear that the NIL is under $5 million next hear.

At this point, UK deserves Pope, and I hope he’s the HC well into the 2030’s.
