They should have to take them anyhow. They don't always prevent leaks but they ain't no fun that is for sure.... always bothered me that certain people get access to classified information WITHOUT a Poly while hundreds of thousands of federal employees are subject to them every 5 years as a condition of employment.

I think Trump should set the example and go first.
1st question: Have you ever cheated on your wives?

That’s just a test question to see if the machine works.

To clarify you can absolutely can have your security clearances suspended or revoked for adultery until adjudicated. The department security manager has that authority. So if you work in a position that requires a SC I hope that's what you mean. What Soaring Turkey doesn't seem to understand is the President doesn't need or have a security clearance.

LOL! If Hilliary was hooked up to one of those, it would explode before they could ask her a question....Then again, every politician who ever lived would fail.

However, I would love to make that as a condition to hold political office.

It's not for the President because he's has authority over all classification. For members who sit on the intelligence committees they can be kicked of the committee.

Me too, release the results every election eve. Hell, make it a national holiday. You would have to include their proxies.

So in the IC -- as long as you report the adultery to security its not a clearance issue.... you have to report divorces, marriages, contact with police etc.... (FBI even requires you to report being pulled over by police whether ticketed or not). Now if the adultery is with a Russian you are hosed....

You are correct -- Congressmen, Senators, the President (and Federal Judges by the way) are cleared by election or lifetime appointment to the office.....no poly no background. Cabinet members get background checks (basic FBI check) but no Poly.... Executive Branch Staff and Congressional Staff are usually not poly'd (unless they are a detailee from an Agency which does poly). It is that Exec Staff and Congressional Staff where 99% of the leaks in the USG happen.....

That is correct -- the President sets the standards for Classification and can unilaterally Declassify whatever he or she chooses. In every each Agency people are designated as having "Original Classification Authority" -- they are the ones in the Agencies who actually implement the President's Classification rules. An OCA is required to declassify something at the Agency level..... with signature by the Agency head.

Lots of good information Tim. However you can have your security clearance suspended or revoked for adultery. You don't have to take my word for it call your security manager who is in charge of your Security Clearance and have him clarify it for you. I have seen it happen numerous times in multiple agencies. Once the issues are resolved they can get it reinstated if still employeed.

I have never seen that happen in 21 years in the IC -- and have known numerous people who have had affairs (with other employees or outside -- what happens overseas stays overseas is a saying around the building). Maybe that is military thing? I know adultery is a no no in the military....

Dude that's an emotional argument. There are lawyers in DC that specialize in trying to get Security Clearances reinstated for DOJ and IC employees who had it revoked for this very topic. You don't have to take my word for it you can call one of them or ask your security manager. Adultery is actually still a crime in some states. Virginia I believe is still on that list. Not saying it will end your career but it can definitely get your security clearance suspended or revoked until adjudicated. Military is only different in that there is the UCMJ that prohibits adultery regardless of the state law where you live. A lot of Commanding Officers don't pursue it unless other issues arise or your job requires a security clearance.
