I wouldn't say he's been completely blackballed. Adrian Peterson hasn't been signed yet. A lot of teams will wait to see what they can get in the draft, wait to see what happens with Romo before taking Kaepernick. I just think it's a little disingenuous for some people to act like Kaepernick is this terrible football player. Yes, he has regressed since leading the Niners to the Superbowl but if you watched 49ers games, he actually didn't play bad last year. He had 17 touchdowns and 4 interceptions and only played 11 games. He was light years better than Blaine Gabbert (which isn't saying much). Kaepernick has done more than Mike Glennon has ever done.

I think he's got such faith in his favored presidential candidate who got elected that he felt his protests had been successful.
I also find it very interesting that so many cry for "peaceful" protests but when they get one, they then need to make sure they also agree with your "peaceful" method...
It goes both ways though. He can protest and nobody stopped his right to protest. However, he doesn't have a constitutional right to play football. In fact, the team could've told him if they didn't stand they would cut him. So owners have a right not to sign him if they don't want to. I just think he's better than a lot of QB's out there and teams would be foolish to at least not give him a look.

Cutler and RGIII are not signed yet either. He and the others will be signed eventually. Definitely after the draft.
I think the problem was very much the method. Many US citizens take great offense when someone disrespects the country/flag/national anthem. Kap played it poorly, and in doing so did the cause a disfavor.
I'm not even sure Kaepernick has regressed all that much. The Niners front office has been a disaster since Harbaugh left. That team was atrocious last year and would've made any QB look bad. If Mike Glennon is getting $15 million a year, Kaepernick certainly deserves at least a top-end backup role.
I'm pretty sure any QB on the niners last year would've been horrible. Jeremy Kerley was their #1 receiver.
Kap should just retire. He can make more money as the spokesman for Hair Club for Men.

Statistically he hasn't regressed. But even under Harbaugh he never really showed progress either. In 2014 he's at 60% comp, 3365 yrds, 19-10 td-int. He did run for more yards, but for less td's.
But I agree his talent level would suggest he got a spot somewhere in the league.
By far too. Torrey Smith was barely useful and their TEs (while very athletic) have bricks for hands. Additionally, Hyde was injured every other game and the very good offensive line was constantly rotating out with injury. Despite that, Kaepernick put up a better season than several starters around the league and actually had the offense moving. He's a good NFL QB. Not an elite one, but a good one.

Every QB moves the ball in Chip's offense. He made Foles look like a player. SF had terrible talent last year but Kap went from a guy who made winning plays to a guy who didn't and that's why he still sitting around.
If you went to a restaurant and the serviceable but uninspired line cook came out and hijacked your evening out with some sort of political grandstanding, would you be more or less inclined to return to that restaurant? Further, if he left there, would the restaurateur down the block have reservations about hiring him?

The crux of the issue is not that Kaepernick made a statement during the anthem. The crux of it is -- he's a MORON and has repeatedly said and done idiotic things. If he offered a carefully considered rationale and actually demonstrated some introspection throughout this process then perhaps, the whole country wouldn't think the guy was an idiot.
Also not true, his teammates loved him. In the past they had issues with him because he was socially aloof, but other than that they never had issues with him.
I'm a 49ers fan, so been following the team closely for decades and also teammates that have said things about him.
They did, but more along the lines that they liked him and respected him more due to being willing to put his reputation on the line for a cause.
I meant not one player said anything bad about him publicly. So I don't know how this guy is saying he has personal knowledge that Kaepernick was a bad teammate. Unless he's in the locker room on the 49ers, then I don't know what he's talking about. In fact, both Harbaugh and Chip Kelly both supported him as a football player.
