He also thought Tubby was the man for the job in 1998. He was right when he had Pitino’s players but never amounted to anything afterwards.

I’d put money that Jasper is one. Just my opinion but he’s always struck me as a kid who thinks he’s better than he is and I’m sure he thinks he should be playing way more than he is.
Mitch ABSOLUTELY can’t still be here when the next coach is hired in a year or two. He can’t be within 1,000 miles of the coaching search. He’s a bubbling idiot who either makes horrible hires in the major sports or if he does get lucky enough to get a winner he gives them a contract that’s about as bad as possible for UK.
And he’s working on the fanbase. Losing is 1 thing but putting on a pathetic display like this and UL is quite another.

Sure you can. Those players weren’t recruited by Tubby and only won when they agreed together to ignore the coaching and do what they were familiar with. lol watched Cameron Mills and Jeff Sheppard literally say it themselves in a documentary about the 1998 team.
If I recall correctly ... he was asked by Barnhart if Gillispie would work here and he said yes. I am not sure Pitino's ego will allow him to make an honest and solid recommendation for a coach here. I suspect he wants everyone to fail, as that makes him look even better, even more the legend. I realize I may be 100% wrong, but I can't help but think Pitino's ego is that big.

If that’s the case, Pope has to show who’s in charge. Some players may have to be benched, suspended or even dismissed for the good of the team.
