I just cannot get over Kentucky paying a $6 million buyout to BYU for Pope
and they are fresh off a sweet 16 and the number one pick in the draft

It makes sense, though, considering Mitch’s history, right? The $20 million NIL for a bunch of role players, paying BYU $6 million for a coach who hadn’t even won a single tournament game. This is a guy who gives out ridiculous contracts among the likes of Cal, Stoops and even BCG had contract troubles.

Pope is our Kenny payne just not as bad...never would have been considered if not at UK alum.
We are in the pay for players era and we have no superstars at UK!!!! At Kentucky!!! The one maybe is one coming back from a major injury...big men are rarely huge impact anyway. Our best player was 6th man at Florida last year. Love Aberdeen and chandler.
We should have offered Nate Oats the same money we offered Dan Hurley... and scott drew should never have been choice #1 or 2... Mitch juChandler. Why is obvious to all.of us and not our AD? Like Pope was 20th on my list...did we really fall that far or Mitch just had to make some "holy hire" hence why scott drew and Pope were 2 and 3rd on the list. We didn't even ask Bruce pearl.... didn't offer nate oats formerly or with a dollar amount he couldn't say no to. Hell so many other proven winners we could have tried to ask.
Did Pope even ever have a 30 win season? I think Kelsey had atleast 2.
Then we pay him 5 million a year when he would have came for 3... we did a 5 year contract and should have done 3 years... gave him an extra year for his sweet 16 ...I said that was dumb when it happened and people fought me over it. And he has a buyout

I’m not trying to be condescending when I say this but, Pope should be coaching in the women’s league! Or a Rec League, his style and personality does not mesh with these millionaire primas with testosterone.

Same, I didn’t watch after we lost the 17-14 lead. That little run I knew we were cooked.
Something that’s different with Pope is, he’ll resign with some dignity and respect before it gets too out of control…

The fans wanted Donovan, but Pitino recommended Tubby because he thought Tubby could handle the fan base and Donovan was too young and inexperienced.

Not the way I remembered it. I remember CM saying Rick recommend Tubby. Several fans thought Rick did that so Donovan would not out shine him at UK. You can even Google who Rick Pitino recommended and it will tell you Tubby. I do not remember Willard's name really coming up during this hire. It was a quick hire.

When UK beat Duke last year in the cc Pope was the Vince Lombardi of college basketball. Should show you how meaningless the early season is because Duke was a way better team with the first overall pick
With Pope’s lack of defense I’m not surprised Garrison had a good game.
The cancer is clearly Oweh and Garrison. I could see Mo D and/or Aberdeen being the guys barking back. They both came from well coached teams, that made a final four and won a title.
I'd rather have Aberdeen and Mo D all day before Oweh and Garrison.

It's a complete guess, but I just can't see incoming players being the ones to gripe. All freshman just a **** ton of money, the transfers are coming from lesser schools. Jelavic is a euro player, and they have 10x the work ethic our youth has, so I dont think it's him. That sort of leads me to believe it's returning players. Maybe wanted more money? Maybe not happy with their roles?

My #1 guess is Oweh. My #2 guess is Garrison.
Aberdeen and Mo D come from good coaching teams and has a ton of experience of what makes a good team. I think both of them bought in what a good team is. You can tell by how they try and play. Its light and day difference from Oweh and Garrison.
But one thought is maybe Jasper said something to one of them and it exploded. I think Japer comprehends what UK is. It could have been something bottled up from the bs and lack of effort and attitude from those 2. Just another thought. But Jasper barely played against UofL. So, not sure if that is the reason or something else.
It's all speculation at the end of the day. Pope needs to discipline whoever it was.
