Im not saying we got a plan, quite the opposite. He's gotta be able to create some sort of strategy to bring life back to the players.

When Malachi inbounds to oweh, and oweh thinks he has to do the same thing as malachi?????? That made the "Not Top 10 Play list" on espn.

Calipari is a ****** coach, as we all know. He gets great talent every year, and still flames out.

This is a failing of our education system to cover topology and integrate it into critical thinking. Cal’s failures at Arkansas were a closed shape that closed last February. Pope’s problems here are open-ended and in terms of the injury aspect they have only just now reached critical mass, which bodes very poorly for us, and us alone, in the foreseeable future at least until the next portal cycle.

Together these two sets of results, in terms of their import, don’t realistically support the epithet, implied above, “39-18 is 39-18.” The heart of the matter is closer to, “When does 39-18 not equal 39-18?”

Calipari has limited expectations at Arkansas. They’ve been a dead team for 30 years. Mark is the head coach at UK, where there are major expectations not just that, but we bled out in Cals last 5, and he was brought in to win immediately.

Neither coach is UK material. None. If you were going to keep 1. Probably Calipari, if nothing more than his legacy stays in tact here and recruiting wouldn’t be as big of an issue. Also, Barnhart would still not be involved in basketball affairs. With Pope, Barnhart is in full control. But I like mark as a person’s far more. But this isn’t the choice, there were 50 others we could have looked at at. lol.

Neither coach should be at UK, neither coach is top shelf. I really don’t care what any of this is saying, nothing against OP, but it just misses the mark. Interesting stat, obviously Calipari isn’t that great either. Which is why he’s gone.

Mark has completely embarrassed UK and the boosters are moving away due to various reasons. He cannot stay and hasn’t earned that right anyway. Should I list the blowouts? We are not Tennessee and Vanderbilt. You can’t do this here.
Honest question were you previously Kentucky 15 or Morg or Grom

Wtf! Did we just trade one dud for another? (Dws)

I WONDER what Pope's record would be if he had a great recruiter on staff that could land the talent Cal squanders?

I wonder what it would be like to have a strategy guy, AND A RECRUITER, and a developer of talent as a head coach....? Wouldn't that be amazing?

Kentucky has always had "microwave" fans with zero patience and relatively little understanding of coaching. They want to win now "because Kentucky" and they think that's how it works. Nothing has changed.

When he got here Cal hit the ground running, was already at an upper tier basketball school (which he helped put there), cornered the "1 semester and done," and had great players here already. If he could coach worth 2 @#$%* he would've had at LEAST 3 MORE TITLES.

Pope walked into an abandoned house and built better than expected on a very short time frame. I said then it would be a bad thing that he took last year's team as far as he did. Kentucky fans couldn't and can't understand why. So they'll dig the hole deeper by making his job a "hot seat" job and players will be reluctant to commit to a coach that might not be retained. (Pitino didn't worry about winning immediately, which is the right way to build. Then again, he had no heart for Kentucky when he arrived like Pope does. If Pope had built a "fighting scrapping Wildcats" team and not gotten the wins, he'd have more latitude outside the LOD/Negs who are never happy. It is what is now, though.)

UK fans are their own worst enemas.

He's got SOLID core of talent that, if the fans dont run them off, he could really build on for next season. I don't know if he can recruit well enough to produce titles in this environment. Cal couldn't, and that's saying something, but I still think Pope, with 2 real STARS at key positions can win more than Cal can with 4. Period.

We won't know if he can get them on campus and keep them healthy until he does or doesn't. He's had 1 recruiting class. Those players are contributing and developing. Unless the team just quits, I think we will the coach and UK will be a lot better next season.

My biggest cringe about things so far is his psychological approach. He's taking so long and so much time trying to figure out each player that he's missing the basics that this (like most sport) is a BATTLE and whoever is man enough to win it, takes it.

I think being soft makes soft. Demanding and demonstrating toughness and fire/heart (both physical and mental) at all times builds toughness and earns respect. Jmo though

You can't worry what UK fans think (truthfully they mostly just FEEL because they love Kentucky). You just have to keep working

So after Saturdays game Pope has 1 more win than Cal. Also Pope has had the harder schedule. When you factor in that Cal took our whole team with him to Arkansas and Pope only had weeks to put a team together I think there is a clear cut winner. Supposedly Arkansas has unlimited NIL also.

That program is a machine. I just threw up in my mouth.

When you watch them play, there’s an additional element there that a lot of programs don’t have, their kids absolutely invest mentally and emotionally in their games. Or to put in blunt direct terms, they give a s***. They badly want to win and work their tails off to try to do it. UConn is another school that seems to kind of have that intangible as well though that may be because their players may be scared to death to face crazy Danny Hurley after they lose a game lol

I said awhile back , I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Duke game where they didn’t appear to be playing hard .

Oh there’s some coaches I would trade Pope for, but Calipari sure as hell isn’t one of them .

Agree but my post was directed to the supposed UK fans who are more about # 1 recruiting classes and NBA draft picks. Pope may make it and he may not but regardless we will know soon enough. Just tired of all the folks being overly negative constantly.
