Pope continues to check all the boxes

At the introductory press conference Mitch rattled off a list of boxes that Coach checked.
Captain
National Champion
Rhodes Scholar
Outstanding Coach and Father
Etc.

7 months later, Coach continues to check all the boxes.
Recruiting an in state talent in Noah that was good enough to sign with South Carolina.
Hitting the portal hard and building a team from scratch.
Getting in state talents in Moreno and Jasper.
Team shooting lights out in exhibition wins.
Team showing outstanding chemistry.
60 assists and 13 turnovers in the first two scrimmages.
And now a big recruiting win over Duke and UConn for Lewis.

I know it’s early and we haven’t really played anyone yet.
But to me it’s obvious. Coach Mark Pope checks all the boxes.

We are playing a fun style to watch.
Players love to play his style.
Players have extreme confidence to shoot the ball and play loose and relaxed.
Coach is so analytical.
Coach represents Kentucky with such pride and enthusiasm.

We are truly blessed.

Great hire Mitch.

Looking forward to numerous outstanding seasons and hanging some banners.

One of the things I *love* about Pope is that he's not letting his foot off the gas on opponents. Rock fights just so everyone can get theirs, or witness non-existent legendary coaching tactics, are a thing of the past.

He will recruit the best players, but thankfully the team won't be suffering losses so precious egos can get theirs. Everyone will have to wait their turn to develop, and if they're good enough to go to the draft they will, but TITLES FIRST.

Don’t forget the coaching staff he assembled in short order. More excited about this staff than any previous staff under the old regime.

One thing I’m sure of is that when we lose we will go out shooting.

That company is obviously living off the Jordan statue credibility. I mean the rest of the work is phenomenal but I don’t know how they and Wade approved that face. The internet will foverer meme that face to good use.

Depends on how you define it. I saw tons of posts over the last few years about how Coach Cal was killing it.

“It” being hope, rapport with BBN, expectations that things were truly “building for March”.

Cal was definitely killing it! 😉

A good get for us, but I wouldn’t call it a recruiting win over UConn or Duke. Both stopped recruiting after getting top 20 guards in Mullins for UConn and Boozer for Duke. Until we beat out someone either really wants through the very endc, I’m not ready to declare our recruiting prowess is back.
