Pope Had Some Huge Wins Last Year

He beat Duke, UF, Gonzaga, UT, and multiple other good teams, he had tremendous momentum headed into this year. Oweh looked excited last season and played tremendously hard, as did many other players that returned. Somewhere between then and now he absolutely lost his team, these guys don’t even look like they like each other, they have zero intensity, lack focus and play for themselves. Pope needs to dismiss some players after tonight!

Ehh, Duke lost Scion James to injury in the 1st quarter and Flagg and Kunnepel had cramping issues. They were beating us handily until then.

Zaga was beating the dog piss out of us similar to this year and quit playing.

We beat UF in Rupp and had to score 106 to do it.

We had as many bad losses as good wins last year, if not more bad losses.

Totally agree, though at the end of the day, those were wins nevertheless, this season every one of those games would be a loss.

And for every one of those wins he had a loss to the likes of Ohio State and Georgia, many of which were blowouts. He went 6th in the SEC, got blown out by Alabama in the SEC tournament quarterfinals and then blown out by Tennessee, a team we had beaten twice during the season, in the Sweet 16. It wasn’t all that impressive when you place the positives next to the negatives.

Honestly I just feel bad. Bad for UK basketball, bad for the university as a whole, bad for Pope too. He is one of us he can’t go to postgame and defend this nonsense. Just becomes a punching bag essentially to agree with Cousins and all the rest who, rightfully, point out the obvious ineptitude.

Put the dude out of his misery. I wanna be mad. All I am is sad.

Gonzaga did not quit playing and James injury did not cause them to lose. You make up stuff to denigrate Pope for what’s going on this year. It meets your agenda. We had bad losses last year but we weee a good team. Something going on behind the scenes that Pope needs to stop. Like the man said above, he might have to kick a few off.

They in fact did in both cases, but if you need to lie to yourself to cope...you do you.

Too many non shooters. Pope has really failed constructing this roster. I'm sick of hearing announcers talk bout 22.5 million dollar roster. I really don't know how he can turn around this team with such bad shooters. Maybe go inside more. Get away from 3 pt shot.

1-8 in last 9 top 25 games. The Duke game is long gone. People have already figured out his offense and can’t coach defense.

The UK team last year would beat this years team by 20+. Hell...if last years team stayed fully healthy they probably would have had a shot at a final 4. They were average on defense but the offense was really good. And had a bunch of shooters.

This team does not have a Jaxson Robinson or a Kobe Brea. It also doesn't have an Amari Williams (who was better than given credit for imo)

Even last years Oweh would probably curb stomp this years Oweh.

Last years team was pretty damn good. That's why it's crazy just how awful it is this year. Nobody saw this coming. I don't think even Pope himself did.

It’s pretty obvious to me that something happened that shattered the trust and brotherhood these guys were trying to develop, or maybe even had developed. Something happened. Mark hinted at it and then took it back.

If Mark wants to save his job, his best course of action would be to bring it to light and make sure the entire world sees his consequence for it.

I remember these statements in 88, 2005, and apparently now. It never ends with you dumbasses. Hope and pray lol.
Well, that comment by that poster shows you that is a literal troll. That was something no true UK fan would ever say right there. I’ve never seen that account before I’m in criminally online on this website. Mods should be nuking this place with accounts like that.

Something has to be going on bigger than basketball
I've noticed a lot of bad body language and some guys side-eyeing each other on the court. There's obviously some kind of inner strife. They look like retail employees showing up for a job they hate instead of being excited to play for the best program of all time.

Something happened between Purdue and Georgetown. No one could convince me otherwise

Oweh is done in sports. NBA won’t touch him now. These guys are all nuking their names. Oweh is pitiful. Good God what a miss by Pope. He’s the worst UK player of all time. And he is never welcomed back here. Ever.

get him out today. Tell him to take his money and go home.

That’s starting to become a copout. It’s pretty obvious watching, these dudes suck at playing basketball. And it’s obvious Pope has no answers on how to keep games manageable.
Two things can true. Something is definitely off more than just basketball AND we can’t hit a barn from arms length

Don…you’re a good dude, but those injuries and cramps had a HUGE impact on the game. Just like the injuries of Jax and Butler had a huge impact on other games. Take your blinders off, my man.

If injuries matter, stop downplaying the effect it has on our own team then. I’ve seen you on multiple occasions downplay last years team over losses we had due to injuries. What’s fair is fair

Stop hanging your hat on a meaningless game that Purdue obviously didn’t care about. You’re using the ONE performance to try to rationalize a bunch of dudes sucking. And that one game was an exhibition. Go back and rewatch the Purdue game. Focus ONLY on the amount of bunnies Purdue missed. Holler at me.

Someone needs to explain to these assclowns on the postgame show that wins last year have no impact on games the following season. Stop looking into the past and making excuses to give a pass to Pope for his shortcomings. $22 million roster. Get real!!
