I’m not the coach but I’ll give my 2 cents on Mo D.
Im fine with Mo if he will play and stay with what helps the team. Set good screens, be tough around the rim, play tough defense, get rebounds, get AND 1’s at the rim, make the team grittier when he’s on the floor. When he starts dancing and making an offensive move 10-12 ft from the basket, NO, don’t do that, and I ain’t even gonna comment on my blood pressure when winds up a 3 attempt.

I’m seeing like 9 year olds doing it in AAU ball. Like you are 3 foot 6 little dude yourself.
Line them all up, tell them to touch their toes, and then

Everytime MoD scores he does the too small celebration or flexes. Embarrassingly hilarious considering he's an undersized 4 man. 🤦‍♂️
Just provide the grit and grime. Set screens, rebound, defend, and get pts in the paint.

I was surprised to see he never made the too small gesture on any of the 4 layups he missed in traffic.

I have to disagree with you Wky.
He is playing 15 minutes per game and averaging 4 rebounds. Also I think he is a good, not great defensive player. In the UNC game, Wilson attempted 19 shots to get his 18 or so points. Jelly is not quick but has good instincts and his height makes up for this deficiency.

He has:
Ball handling and passing skills
Good form on his shot - we have not seen good results yet though
Does not have to jack up shots just plays the game

His shooting has been atrocious, but he does not try to force up shots and with more playing time, I think he can be a fine player.

I would give him Mo’s minutes . He missed all summer and coming to the USA had to be unsettling. I believe He and Collin will be important contributors the rest of the season.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of Jelly getting more time for sure

There was alot of chatter preseason about how Mo would be a fan favorite. Pretty far from it so far.
Seems like a lot of these guys just have not meshed well together. Like they came to be leaders and stars when in reality they work better as the secondary players they were before they came. Maybe the Attitudes just don’t mix or some are jealous IDK. Seems great the pre season and then something happened that second exhibition and it’s been off the rails since then.

Mo is garbage. Would rather have Jell in there anyday
as would I
just can't understand the reasoning behind bringing in someone like Mo to UK........
He doesn't fit the style Pope professes to play because he can't shoot. He is not a great rebounder like Oscar
Just don't understand & I'm sure he is being paid well

Mo could be a great asset but he showed his colors in the postgame interview of Otega. This is a team game but I am afraid he is too immature and selfish to be a contributor unless/until he has an attitude adjustment.

Maybe he left Bama to be a star at UK but his success is as a role player who scraps, rebounds, and plays hard nosed defense. Happy to see Jelly get MO’s minutes and build confidence.
must have missed that.......what did he say during the Otega interviw?

He did not say anything. The players were behind Otega smiling, laughing, and talking to each other. Mo had a look like someone had stolen his ice cream, just stone faced and no expression. Collin came over and put his arm around him and was talking to him but Mo never responded.

Man, Mo D is the clumsiest player I’ve ever watched play at UK. He hits the floor a lot. Tripping over his own feet, slipping, etc. It’s uncanny how much he falls. 🤦‍♂️

that doesn't happen very often, as he doesn't score very often

Him and Aberdeen my god. At least first half Aberdeen. He is so selfish and looks like he doesn’t even try half the time. Definitely not the player he was at Florida. Total miss coming here IMHO.
I dont think he's selfish, I just thing he's doesnt have point guard or playmaker instincts and really struggles seeing the floor and knowing how drive and kick. The reason I say that it, yeah he keeps the ball in his hands too much and shoots too much but he doesnt usually drive it hard to get his own shot . . . instead he usually dribbles in one spot or around kind of lost then chucks one up. Think its because he's not used to directing the offense with the ball in his hands. Certainly has no business on the point.

Totally agree Mash
I would sit him down and explain what is expected of him to earn playing time

1. Get rid of the attitude and be a supportive teammate. Most important criteria.
2. You are one of the best hard nosed and scrapping players in the country (over exaggerating a little). When the ball comes off the board or is on the floor, GO GET IT!
I want your mindset to be that if you don’t get it, the other team will get it.
3. Use your quickness and concentrate on becoming the best defensive player on the team.

You do 1-3 and you will play and get minutes. Scoring is great but not required.
I remember watching the Purdue pre-season game and he was doing exactly all this and remember Tom Leach say "I just love how this guy goes and gets it off the glass?" Where has that gone?

Remembe when Terrance Jones struggled with the same thing in 2012. Was really the only one struggling early in the year looking really awkward and out of place on the offesive side. Cal (to his credit) finally just told him, look you are an absolute athletic beast, just hand around the rim and dominate that space getting lobs and put backs and sure enough he did that and it brought him out of his funk.
