the question was a good one. What are you (pope) doing to change his offensive scheme to fit the players who don't shoot as well.

He said they were making some minor adjustments for specific players, but believes they will be a dangerous shooting team. Somethings are as clear as crystal. And the lack of shooting on this team will not get that better. Sure, if spacing gets better, some will have open looks, but that is irrelevant if those open shots are from Mo and Oweh...

This team is the worst shooting Kentucky team I’ve ever seen and I’ve been watching since 1992 (first season I remember I was 7). Maybe there was a worse statistical shooting team I don’t know, but this team finishes and shoots like women’s basketball. It’s a rough watch. And I’ve never seen that.

I’ve got to the point where I listen to nothing he says because it’s just coach speak. Maybe it makes sense for him to do that for his team, but I’m not gonna spend my time being gaslit about JMI, Mitch, and him believing this team will turn into the Steph Curry’s of college basketball. JMO.

this team will be able to shoot 3's "dangerously". I am sorry, he is living in an analytical dream that is not based in reality.

per the coaches show on now.
We have guys in a shooting slump. Genuinely feel like I'm going insane from reading takes like this (not a jab at OP). We have a guy who shot north of 40% last year who can't stop hitting bricks. Offense will get there this year just like defense did last year.

I'm with you, the Indiana game and JQ being about ready, has given me some hope for Pope, and this team.

I believe him. With Lowe back we will get better shot selection. Analytics don’t often lie. Water rises to its level.

I know it’s just my observation at Rupp watching them warm up prior to games but they scorch the nets. Not just 1 or 2 but 5 or 6 hit the 3s one after another when shooting in rhythm.

Maybe they need to practice in there more often or change the shooting drills to include someone challenging the shots. But I mean prior to IU they were really killing it from outside. I was baffled watching us miss 3s and free throws. Down 7 at the half and if we had fits we would have been ahead.

Did Pope say anything about the JMI deal?
He’s just said we’re so lucky to have a company like JMI who restricts our players in every way possible and when compared to the rest, unheard of ways. When he said the partnership is great for Kentucky I stopped listening to anything he says.

My fear is without Mitch Pope wouldn’t have this job. That’s a fact. Mitch had no control over basketball for 15 years and wanted that back. He can’t control guys like Calipari or Oats, or Pearl. They know they have power over him. But hire a guy like Pope who’s not qualified, and use nostalgia to get everyone to buy in, there you have it. He needs Mitch more than any of us, and he’s going to say and do whatever it takes to keep him in that seat.

I’m going to stay with Kentucky because it’s all we can do. But I’m not going to be gaslit, and he’s not going to convince me everything is fine when we’re in one of the worst positions in history and he knows it. 1 year isn’t the problem, it’s what the hell do we do over the next 15? We’re going to lose our status if staying the course is what we’re going to do. And I know he needs Mitch in that seat, but Inwant to see mark hold this program to a standard and demand changes. Not gaslight us and back Mitch Barnhart and all of his decisions. So far, recruiting is telling the story of the fire. And that’s not Kentucky it’s closer to Indiana.

The insane amount of propaganda flowing from one win against a bad unranked Indiana team is insane. Maybe just maybe they get it together if and when JQ starts playing, but that's remains to be seen. What would really ease my concerns is for Pope to start landing some elite talent. My inial concerns about Popes recruiting abilities remain unchanged.

At least Oweh shoot air balls like some do. I think it’s in the guys minds and not shooting in the flow of the offense. Trouble is, our offense is not getting really good open looks for our best shooter Noah.

At some point the definition of insanity comes into play. I also thought they would be a good shooting team, but so far they aren't, and it's getting close to the point that anyone expecting that to change, especially the coach, will be insane.

We had a terrible start, but we have improved, we have gotten healthier.

I don’t have enough energy to worry about JMI and recruiting right now. If we can beat St John’s and Alabama, I’ll start to think we have a chance to salvage this season.
Yea I mean, I guess. But it’s just the monster under the bed. We can win the night and keep our feet up, but every morning we get down we know we’re gonna have to try to make it again that night. There’s no end to it, this is a bad situation. I’m afraid for Kentucky basketball in ways I’ve never been. This president and Mitch should have never been allowed to work here. The second they downplayed the importance of basketball or showed they didn’t understand it, which was immediately, they should have been removed.

It’s hard to get excited because of all the uncertainties going on. It’s like a train wreck. I have been listening to a lot of the recruiting guys and everyone is saying the same thing about the JMI contract. Basically everyone of them don’t think we will get any top talent from this 26 class. Very frustrating!

Getting guys to buy into setting REAL SCREENS will generate easier looks from 3. Players just going through the motions is not going to get it done (as illustrated in the thread where ONE possession was broken numerous times).

I get that he's not landing the elite recruits, but what good would that do when guys are playing for themselves? We saw that with the last coach. Get all the guys on the same page in terms of running plays, and you'll get a clearer picture. It's not just about the recruits.

Where have we gotten better? We were being boo'ed in Rupp until halftime against a podunk IU team. Yes, guys played harder the second half. They gave a dam for one half. There was no coaching uplift. Guys decided to have some heart. But the team they played didn't put up much resistance.

The only ones who hate Kentucky are the ones who think the situation we’re in is acceptable. Who doesn’t love the situation Kentucky is dealing with more than opposing fans?

Can’t recruit, AD placing us in an untenable position and a yes-man for a coach who can only praise an AD who is funneling our NIL into his pockets while screwing us over. And he can’t recruit to boot! No one loves this more than fans who hate Kentucky?

yOu jUsT hate cAl!!!

no doubt one of those.

No I hate final four droughts, getting blown out by good teams, terrible recruiting classes, and losing position as the greatest program on earth. I guarantee you Louisville and Tennessee and Duke fans love your position and definitely don’t want to see what those like me want. You’re okay with suck, you hate the program obviously. Not that what you want means a damn thing.

Man, you are prone to over exageration. We are not in one of the worst situations. I know you're relatively young, but for God sake the probation we were on and basically Eddie Suttons tenure, BcG, and Cal tje last 5 years including 9/16 year. Yes we ate off to a bad start amd that includes recruiting but its still early this yeat.

BS. The benching of Garrison, Williams and aberdeen for a half and not forcing Jelly in are all significant changes in his approach.

It’s the same group of 5 everytime. Same exact ones. No vision, backed Calipari until he was slapping them in the face, and won’t accept anything but YOU accept trash and program derogation. Same ones. Chattanooga, Barefoot, and 3 more. They do this everytime.

I’m not interested. Protect the program and demand blue blood results.

Have a losing season, which is a very real possibility, and it’s two losing seasons in 5 years. Before 2020, it was 2 losing seasons in 100 years.

This is worse than that. A lot worse. And many people including boosters who have been involved during all of those era believe it. You obviously don’t understand what Mitch Barnhart has done and I understand that. But you aren’t going to be singing any top recruits unless they’re willing to sell their rights. We have a coach who’s turning out to be a pretty bad floor guy. The concerns are way worse because we have no Pitino coming to rectify it. We have pope, who’s controlled by Barnhart, who’s controlled by JMI, and it’s for 15 years. You will see, this isn’t just me concerned. I’ll just say that.

Blindly pumping while Gonzaga is kicking our teeth in? No I won’t.

We have had some of the worst basketball since 2018 than we’ve ever seen and there’s no end in sight. Some of you just don’t know what’s going on. I’ll say it can be fixed but until then don’t expect Kentucky results.
