Just what we need - more damaged goods on our roster.. Good kid I'm sure but last two years couldn't finish through the tape. There are better options out there.
At 133? The only other potential intriguing option to me is Ronnie Ramirez if he goes in the portal. I don't think he will, he might wait and see if there's room at the inn next year. Who are the better options?

Iowa is at the point they get what’s left, guys who’s med chart is a book. I’d take crook because it’s still an improvement over Peterson. If he gets hurt at least they tried to produce a good lineup

Guys with less health risk? Sure. There will be 10-12 of them. Guys that are better than him that are likely to jump in the portal? Unlikely unless Jax, Blaze, Davino, or Seidel enter the portal. If he's healthy, he's probably top 3-4 at the weight.

Ronnie Ramirez, JJ MComas, and Cael Hughes should all test the waters in the portal this cycle. That room is already both young and full and when they add the Raney's in, it's not getting any less full. None of them are going to be beating Jax out at 133 so unless he gets injured, they're only going to get mop-up duty to give him some in-season rest. Moving up to 141 isn't much better with Sergio Vega there.

I think Jax and Sergio both bump.

I presume the paperwork can't be filed until April 1st, but doesn't really mean you can't announce your intention ahead of time. Endene announced his weeks ago. A lot of college bball players have already announced and they don't open until the 6th for women and 7th for men.
I said he's a grad transfer and he said it doesn't matter. And it does because a grad transfer can enter the portal at anytime. Others must wait until April 1st. Typical with him

Take the chance on crookham, when healthy he is clearly a championship threat. He also has 2 years remaining which lines up perfectly with Paul Kenny coming out of RS.
Totally agree, this timeline works perfect with Kenny. Hope we are reaching out. This immediately fills a need, then we can look to fill 165.

They did switch the rule though so grad transfers have to enter the portal before the closing date, so no more Buchanan or Teemer that basically skipped the portal dates and waited nearly the whole summer. At least that's my understanding of it.

Unger (grad) declared a couple of weeks ago....so yea, even though it was said there's not difference for grads there seems to be a difference with grads.

He is from Iowa City, but wrestled with Big Game Wrestling Club - who's coach supposedly has a beef with Brands - and is on friendlier terms with DSJ and Metcalf.
Good grief, why is this never surprising to read anymore?
Yeah, it gets really messy, really fast. I can't see either Jax, Vega, or Robideau redshirting next year and Swiderski will be a rSR so I doubt they send him packing to make space. That probably means that both Raney's take a standard redshirt next year. The year after that, I bet they try to get either Jax or Vega to take an Oly redshirt with the Raney's either starting at 133 and 149 or 141 and 149. The year after that is where things start to get sketchy. If you want to get Jax, Vega, Robideau, Jordyn, Jadyn all in the lineup at the same time, they've got to get Lockett to redshirt a year or bump up to 174. I have no idea if Robideau/Jordyn can successfully make the bump to 157 and 165 respectively.

I will say this, if I am a 133-, 141-, 149-, or 157-pounder at Oklahoma St. not listed above and I actually want to wrestle, I'm probably getting in the portal this cycle or next. It's a good problem to have for Oklahoma State but it is still a problem that they're going to have to work through.
Like you said, good problem to have, sure wish we had the same. We'll struggle to field an AA competitive wrestler at a couple of those weights next year.

This is correct. They changed the rule last fall. No more open season for grad transfers. @Corby2 can apologize for calling me “typical” any time now.
