Let me be very clear…Corby and I butted heads over Brands this week but when he says something from the “inside” I put a lot of stock in it.
I agree with this. The problem is the “be nice to me and worship every word I say or I’ll take my ball and go home” and then the pathetic simps that show up to apologize and beg for info (which might only have a 50% chance of hitting).
Corby definitely gets more inside info than most on here but if he wants everyone to agree with everything he says or else he’ll just name call, rub it in faces that he’s got connections, then hang it over everyone’s heads then he can just keep the info.

I don’t think he’s looking for 100% agreement. I just don’t think he likes all the negativity and posters talking in absolutes when they don’t know ****, and he actually knows what’s going on. People were attacking him prior to NCAA’s, i don’t blame him for taking a victory lap and sticking up for himself when attacked. Ive been on the board for probably close to 10 years, he’s always been a good poster. Nothing has changed.

He doesn't have **** he's a schmuck who thinks he knows it all. The rest of us lack any knowledge of wrestling and should rely solely on him and mrs msu for all our wrestling info and if anyone disagrees they are stupid or don't understand what they are saying.
Longtime lurker here. I consider myself fairly objective, and it seems clear to me that the majority of the problem does not lie with MSU or Corby. Here’s an example of the kind of post that shows who the true schmucks are.

I really appreciate the insiders on this board, and really miss the ones that didn't come over to the new board or have gone silent (or got booted over stupid things). I have been a Hawkeye wrestling fan for 50+ years, and a very devoted one for most of them. Unfortunately, I do not have the deep pockets needed to get close to the program, so I look forward to hearing from those who are. When my Mom started going, and she and I became season-ticket holders and started donating what we could, and became rabid fans, we joined the H.A.W.K. club, but only kept our membership a few years, because, at that time, we felt like 83% or more of the members looked down their noses at us. I have had a couple good friends over the years who had some pull, but they are no longer with us.
I wish people wouldn't be such d*cks to the ones who are insiders when something falls through, because that often makes them reluctant to share. There are a precious few that still post on this board and share some insights, so I want to treat them well and keep them here. It is very obvious who some of them are, and there are some who rarely get involved in the mess this board is. I'm sure there are others on here that never share, for multiple reasons, but I want to thank all who do.

They're getting Novak from Wyoming Endene got recruited over. 165 Cardenas,174 Garvin and 184 Norman to Ames as well is the word . Stanford did beat Iowa st at NCAAs so maybe they reconsider 🤷
Novak leaving Wyoming after the family proclaimed their Cowboy loyalty after Volk left last year - I'm not buying it. And maybe a couple of the Stanford guys are on the move, but don't see Cardenas leaving that team. Let us know if you have any updates.

I don’t think we should touch anyone for just one year. What I like about Bailey and Williams is that that NIL is one year at a time. They didn’t prove their worth this season so they get nothing for next season. If they want to leave, let them.

Bailey had multiple hand surgeries and still made R12. Not sure about the stance of “meh you’re out” with him. At the very least, I don’t think you can group him in with Williams. Completely different, IMHO.

there's been a massive rise in johnny-come-latelys on twitter.

they 'hear' a snippet from somewhere and post it as gospel

7 of the champs were from PSU or OKST.

One from Minnesota. One graduated.

They are talking about Valencia, who has more money than he knows what to do with, just won a natty at Stanford, and lives 15 minutes from campus.

they don't d1ck
Willie this place has been hilarious lately. I don't know anything either 😂. They're so mad that I kept saying wait until March and Iowa wrestled well. Now I get to troll these 🤡 s

Or maybe he got fed up with the constant attacks so he started being a di*k back. I can be a smarta*s with the best of them. Now they're playing my game .

Exactly I'm not gonna sit back I did that long enough. And yes I know a thing or two but most people know that. It means nothing to me actually it's a sport I love and I'm a need to know type of guy. I'm just sick of all the losers who don't know a damn thing making up crap and then attacking me. So I started saying stuff back and being a smarta*s. Never been a look at me type of guy if I was I would be on social media doing this stuff. I come to the boards to share the information with the fans that I can because I'm a fan myself.

Without specifics, is there any chatter or signs of filling Hawks lineup with some difference making portal guys?

For the record I enjoy the sarcasm and banter. I try not to get worked up over anything on the internet and it works 99% of the time lol
happy paul rudd GIF

And it’s always supposed to default to 83% on this board!

I'll post some more detail later, but broad strokes:

At 125, it is almost always a crap shoot. There are very few highly ranked kids at that weight level and once they get to about 20, it can be hard for them to make weight so most move up after a year at 125. Previous success tends to repeat itself at this class if they can make the weight cut.

Anything above 184 and the wrestling talent starts to thin out. Either guys choose to play football right out of the gates instead of wrestling or they start at 197, outgrow it, and become undersized heavyweights that struggle to get over that 245 to 250 pound hump during season. The 197 and 285 weight classes tend to be areas where guys can develop into All-Americans. In the last 4 years, 17 of the 32 AA's at heavyweight were ranked outside of the top 25 in their class...about half of those were outside the top 100. Same numbers at 197 with a higher percentage being guys that were outside of the top 100.

Between 133 and 184, talent matters. Period. In 2026 from 133-184 68% of All Americans were ranked in the top 25 of their class. 46% were ranked in the top 10 of their recruiting class. Yeah, you might find a Mikey Caliendo, Antrell Taylor, or Chris Minto in the portal...but the odds say that it is very unlikely to happen. I'm not saying use a recruiting service to look for guys in the portal...but I'm not saying not to either.

If you want to actually compete for championships, it starts with recruiting and it has to be supplemented with the portal. You aren't going to hit on every single one, but statistically you're better off going after a high ranked kid who has been stuck behind another high ranked kid than you are trying to snag a lower ranked kid who made the podium once. There are exceptions, but that's where I would start.

If Williams is gone so be it but I’m cutting Bailey slack this year after what he’s went through with his hands. I think we’d be foolish to let him walk.

With the depth at 157 coming back I hope Williams sticks around unless a very high quality guy leaves its going to be hard to spend well at the weight for the coming year.

At 133 I would look at Ronnie Ramirez at Ok State seems to be the odd man out, but showed good potential this year and still has 4 years of eligible.

I think the Bachmann kid comes in 27 but maybe weights can be juggled. Hawks look pretty strong in the light to middle weights within a year or two.
