Although we hate losing kids to the portal, UK has fared near top of the conference. 10 kids (so far) have hit the portal. Total of 7 games started.
Only Tennessee and Georgia have fared better...6 and 2 players respectively, and -0- games starting experience.

Texas A&M.....26 players, 25 starts.
Arkansas....23 players, 40 starts.
South Carolina....only 9 players, but 35 starts.

So far this year.....SO FAR....the Cats are on the plus side.

To me the sign when starting players decide to leave in droves….there is a culture problem wjtb the coach.

Backups leave for immediate play time….I get it. But like Texas Am has culture issues. Florida is also losing guys as well.

But Stoops has kids that like rhe culture he provides Getting guys like square , Jacquez jones , even Horsey coming back…I think guys like playing for him

What's up with USCe losing big time players like Lloyd and Bell to the portal? I thought Beamer was the culture king? I hope they crumble if Rattler goes pro.

There will be another portal surge post bowls so this is far from over.

Imo the key is to see where our portal guys end up. That's tells the tale. Iirc every guy that actually left took a step down, most of them s major step down. A surprising number didn't find suitors at all.

Goes to show we're improving our team via the portal. Improving by quite a lot actually
So I saw John young at Miami. Christian Lewis to Troy and Magwood ended up somewhere

But are a lot of the other guys not finding a place to play? That is the saddest part is guys that had a ride and a chance for college degree but lose it all due to poor expectations

Still plenty of time but I'm not sure somebody like Drennen finds a home.

Magwood to UCF.

Allegedly complaints about NIL....where have we heard that before?

Some established productive USC Jr guys feel they are getting the short end of the stick of NIL cash, as compared to younger new teammates who aren't yet contributing much.

That is interesting as this whole saga plays out. If a kid already playing in college gets little to no NIL….and a high recruit is getting more….and the coach is a third party as well who is not the NIL guy but decides the playing time…😵💫

I’m sure in era past….Micah Jones was a four star Oline at UK but never played and Logan Stenberg was starter from early on…Micah gets NIL to come to UK. Ur Logan is the better player….I’m sure if that played out Logan could have easily said…I get the NIL or I’m out

Why KSR said NIL would not create locker room issues is another reason that crew isn’t all that experts in anything’

I keep hearing this sentiment - that some of our transfers-out don’t find a place to play. Almost all do. Not saying it’s P5 schools, but rarely is their career over. Take a look at last years transfers out. All but one that I know of (T. Davis) found another school. I haven’t followed their careers there and don’t know how much PT they’ve gotten, but they found other teams at least initially.

Transfers Out (20):
WR - Isaiah Epps (Tulsa)
LB - Jared Casey (Indiana)
LB - Marquez Bembry (UConn)
LB - KD McDaniel (UCF)
OT - Nasir Watkins (Liberty)
DT - Isiah Gibson (Marshall)
DB - Moses Douglass (AL A&M)
DB - Cedric Dort (Wisconsin)
RB - Travis Tisdale (Valdosta St)
RB - Torrence Davis (?)
WR - Devonte Ross (Troy)
QB - Nick Scalzo (Samford)
OL - Jake Pope (Illinois State)
WR - Tre’von Morgan (Miami, OH)
WR - Earnest Sanders (Saginaw Valley St)
OL - RJ Adams (GA Tech)
DB - Ricky Hyatt (South Alabama)
WR - Clevan Thomas (Montana St.)
QB - Beau Allen (Tarletan State)
CB - Joel Williams (Memphis)

Most take a step down, but they do find a landing spot the vast majority of the time (see post directly above this one). We’ve been fortunate to not lose major contributors. They portal has been good to us for sure.

UGA expects to be hit hard as soon as our season is over. Kids are staying hoping to get a ring. It's been hinted we will be well into double digits. And a couple that are playing a good bit are included. I think we ended up with 3 transfers, one being kept quiet for some reason. Rumor is he visited last weekend for visits with his belongings and moved in.

Yeah

Drennan the db Huey is a kids I wonder if he finds a home
Yeah….. some of these young men may have to drop down to FCS or even Div II if they want to keep playing. Sad thing is that a kid like Huey never even got on the field as far as I recall so there’s no film to show a coach what they can do.

That's where the coaching network comes into play. You can bet Stoops or his assistants have advised their cohorts on some of these guys. My guess is IF Drennen/Huey wish to continue they'll resurface in the MAC.

Now Hartman to Notre Dame maybe. How did they get so lucky? Times I have watched Hartman he is a really good QB. Wonder how him and Leary stack up against each other? Both seem to be solid and similar in all phases.

Saban said he offered all his guys transferring out to play in their bowl game but they aren't. Said he didn't know if it was good or not for players to not stay connected to their team till the season is over. One interesting thing with them is they have brought their incoming portal guys in to practice for the bowl game to give them a head start with the team. Of course they can't play in the bowl game, but I wonder if any of our incoming transfers are with our team already?

I suspect the timing of the early portal season will be a real detriment to the four teams in the playoffs. Take UGa, for example... As we see, most of the players stay put, for the time being, because of the possibility of getting a ring. And let's say a dozen enter the portal (probably more). By the time those players announce their intentions nearly all the portal players of value will already be committed somewhere else. So now the Georgia coaches are faced with a dozen scholarships (again, probably more) and maybe only a few players worth pursuing.
Don't get me wrong; my heart won't bleed for them (or TCU, Michigan or tOSU), but I'll bet there will be some discussion about it moving forward.

That is a good point. They get a late start on the portal spots by getting in a month or more later than most

Those teams can go out and try to grab whatever transfer portal players they want like anyone else. They know they are going to have portal attrition after the playoffs and they can also urge players to move on if necessary.

I don’t see how they are hampered at all.
