Portal talk is fun as a fan. Looks like we have a solid roster coming back, though.

Smashcat looks solid, BWO still has our back. As does Jedwar. Bucs & Basscat are solid returnees. Hell, we even got BKO coming off the bench ! It's a ridiculous amount of riches we got here in the Rafters ! I'm just happy to be returning as the waterboy.

But it may be possible we could get some bigtime portal transfers.......

I heard Denim_Vest might put his name in the portal if Auburn doesn't win a title this year.
Zipp is perpetually putting his name in every year ... and rescinding it. Just so he can be closer to the action presumably.
Nooneputsbabyinacorner has put his name in too. Kansas' sinking ship has got him bailing.

looks like a weak portal transfer year, actually. Come to look hard at it.

Someone get some analytics up in here !

Go Rafters !

Go Big Blue !

It seems like Braden Smith is a more solid Point Guard. He looks to pass first which is good. Can score if needed.

He can play defense too.

I have only watch a bit of him, but not sure how physical he is.

I think Braden Smith should be our #1 PG target.

I was hoping to get Smith or Dent. (Dent is to ucla)

Obviously but he’s not in the portal yet.

Need someone who is an unquestioned alpha, need more 3 and D guys, need a do-it-all stretch four and a unicorn center
We also need "superstars", to use Pope's own words. Gathering up another money ball crew ain't gonna cut it in year 2 unless you have at least one stud.

Tonight was a travesty. The UK staff needs to go all-in and be willing to kill it on the recruiting front. If they want to be nice guys on the sideline, fine, but they need to slit some throats when it comes to recruiting against UNC, Arkansas, Kansas, Duke, and UConn.

People automatically take that type of talk as an attack on Pope. It's not. It's reality. He's here to win titles.

Ryan Conwell from Xavier entered today he’s a 96 rank. I would expect us to put a full court press on Dedan Thomas assuming someone like Smith doesn’t enter or transfer.

We need to go get an absolute STUD or two.

Watching LJ Cryer at Houston, Braden Smith at Purdue, etc., would be so great to have a guy like that who is just the best player on the floor 90% of the time.
Absolutely we need one, that’s why taking a chance on Ament is good. He could be a guy
Like that. We will have to see who enters and who we can snag.

When I say “unquestioned” alpha, I mean the same thing you mean when you say “superstar”. I don’t think you need two and in most cases, that can muddy things. You need one and I would like it to be a PG. I don’t know who would take that as an attack on Pope. As far as tonight being a travesty, I suppose that depends on what you mean. I didn’t think we were supposed to win against Tennessee the two other times we played them. That’s because…we didn’t have the talent. Now is the time to go get it. Therefore, I think I mostly agree with your post if I understood your point correctly.

Itd be to have a guy with some semblance of an inside game. We sorely lacked that tonight. Harder to guard the perimeter when the paint has to get some of the defensive attention.

If you are talking about Bethea:

36.8% FG and 32.6% from 3.

Not exactly what I would call a “bucket.”
He didn't really do anything well. I could see taking a chance coaching up his shooting, like Pope did with Butler, if was a standout defender or a savant at setting up teammates. He was just rather meh overall.
