Boy, imagine a world in which Huskers are downright giddy at having a shot to land guys from Iowa st

crazy
It is crazy but it’s reality. Iowa state from
The mighty big 12 is equivalent to 2nd or 3rd spot in the big ten.

So, what's the plan? Piss and moan day and night? Rhule is the coach for at least another year or two. If you don't like it pony up the 50 million to buy him out. Then pay for a new coach.
People can piss and moan I guess, I don’t blame them, they’ve had to eat **** sandwiches for a couple decades. I think the plan should be for the coaches to work as hard as they ever have in their lives, fully and completely evaluate the most promising portal players (and getting help doing it) and then get them (the ones that have even the slightest interest). Pay their agents to talk up Nebraska. I expect Rhule to pitch in a chunk of his own money. I expect highly qualified coaches, not some guy that nobody else would really want, but comes here because it’s a step up for him and Rhule can’t find anything better, all the while being told that the new coach is a stud. Let the people that paid to bring him in pay to get him out. Why should I have to pay for their f up?

It is what it is. We've been a mediocre program for 25 years. I don't know why anyone thinks this is any different.

Sign them all

pretty much all these guys are better than what we have…
Which is pathetic, but is what it is so let’s get them

and to think, had we not extended Rhule we could have escaped in a year or two, but now seems like 3-4 years is more likely

Good post. We would have won more games that's for sure! Brock Purdy, maybe a David Montgomery or Breece Hall, Will McDonald rushing the passer instead of that overpaid stiff from Texas wherever. Grab one or two of their stud receivers. What a difference that could have made.

Say what you want, but we are in on some good prospects. A couple big D-linemen, some pass rushers, find the best battle tested offensive lineman (or two) that you can find, get two QBs. Those are the weakest areas of the team. It would be nice to pull in all three of those San Diego State defenders-- they already know the system.

But what I don't want to see is bringing in another RB or two and another WR. It is not the time to spend big money to get a little bit better at positions that we are probably going to be OK in. Focus on building up the weakest areas and bringing in more tough, mature vets. Turn around the mentally weakness that has pervaded all parts of this program for 20 years now.

indeed,

what we learned from indiana:
1. have a mark cuban type
a. pay for performers*
b. pay per performance*
2. have a cignetti type
a. be a good coach like saben

wr's: grade c-
we don't really need any of them, need to block and throw first before they become a factor outside of blocking

qb's: grade d+
we had a statue and a hamstring, we need 3 solid performing* qb's min

rb's: grade b
hard to say out side of emmit, most have been on sidelines, we need 1 workhorse performing* rb who is big fast and doesn't know what a hospital is.

0line: grade f+
we need 3 performing* left tackles and two deep in the rest of the spots

----------------------------------------

dline: grade f+
we need performing* dlinemen who are not sophomores and freshmen, two deep

lb's: grade c-
need a couple performing* ones who can tackle and speed

cb's: grade c
we probably have enough of them, hopefully they can pass protect and not worry bout the run because of the dline and lb's

------------------------------------

special teams: grade a-
don't need anything there, except a rocket performing* ishmael type, but give the coach a life time extension

* = results

What would the transfer portal look like for a team that just finished 7-6 with an easy schedule, was blown out in its most recent 3 games, whose coach has no idea what they are doing, has no accountability. and who just overhauled the entire defensive staff? A bunch of unwanted from Iowa state, and starters from Memphis and San Diego State.

and 15 years of futility under 3 different coaches. You would think that people who ***** and moan about Rhule and the productivity of the team would not be expecting more than what is visiting, but nope, just more bitching and moaning. Questioning why isn't Nebraska getting top players.
