Nothing has really changed for me.

I am what you call an "essential" employee since I work in distribution.

Our orders have been nuts, which is great. What sucks is it's at the same time it's extremely difficult to fill added positions needed to keep up with demand, so we've been working 10 hours a day and Saturdays for the last 2+ months. Frickin $600.

It's great for hourly folks. Absolutely sucks for us ******** on salary.

[QUOTE="UKWildcats#8, post: 9036720, member: 10488" No hour plus in the car is amazing and have saved some gas money the last 4 months I can spend on (even more) alcohol instead.

I've filled up 4 times since March. And one of those times was only because I drove to Owensboro to visit my parents[/QUOTE]
I drive from Brownsboro Rd to Riverport each day. I fill up twice a week.

Eww. Luckily when I was not working from home my commute was only 4 miles. My brother lives right outside Atlanta. At one point he was driving 50 miles each way. In Atlanta traffic. Damn near killed him

Because all the bike shops sold out all their models months ago, and no one can get parts made and shipped to the US due to trade wars and virus concerns with factory shutdowns. Naturally most of the parts are made overseas even though some bikes are assembled in the US. FWIW, I heard the same thing about golf pull carts this weekend, there is a 3 month backlog of orders.

That must be a special bike.

We buy a ton of parts globally and have only experienced delay issues...not availability problems.

Pedal Power and Bicycle Face in Lexington both have almost no inventory, maybe have one or two bikes $2000 and up, but moderately priced bikes are not to be found.

How special does this bike need to be? I have an extra bike in my basement, great condition just needs new tires since the tread is worn down on them. I havent done it since I have my bike, this one was given to my now ex who left it when she moved. While it was for her it is a guys bike. Im sure as hell not using it. Got my own.

My wife is telecommuting and it's turned out way better than expected for her. Gas, lunches, clothes, etc are saving a lot of money and with Zoom, meetings take a fraction of the time and effort. She's also finding that it's a lot easier to keep up with people she manages than she expected. Her employer is talking about doing a hybrid office and home schedule in the future and giving up physical space to save money.

I've had to work so my only positive is that my mask has UK on it.

I'm thinking that we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to changes from this.

I feel ya, we're working 10s too at my distribution center. I'm hourly though, my boss thinks that business in hotspot states are ordering more because they are afraid a shutdown might be coming.

Have cut a couple thousand pieces of firewood, push mowed my own lawn, (and cost the kid next door money); and I have found some damn cheap dress shirts at Dillards and Kohls (like 10 bucks for some dress shirts).

Kinda' got back into my very local neigborhood, and been drinking moonshine with friends and neighbors. . . . more than 60% alcohol content, ya' know

WTH do you need dress shirts for? I have been wearing golf shirts to work for weeks now, maybe have worn a tie 5 times since March, and not once put on a suit and sport coat.

A lot of what has already been said, but as someone who lives alone I do enjoy working from home. I work for an events based not-for-profit adult education group and we have gone "full Zoom" with our events and courses. I get to spend time putting together digital marketing videos for our sponsors, I am not bombarded with questions at our events by our members (many are retirees who sit on their community boards and committees), and I have a home gym so I can work out during the day while still getting done everything that I need to do, work-wise. Plus, my girlfriend has recently become the guardian of her 9 month old nephew and I can help out as much as possible now that I'm working a flex schedule.

All this being said, my personal gains do not in any way outweigh the loss of life, the inconveniences this has brought to several parents and workers who need to physically be at their job to fulfill their role for their company, and the many industries that have been absolutely crushed by the lack of physical and social gatherings. I'd gladly go back to my pre-March work life if it meant others could too.

How about weight loss and health? Granted, it's tough not to just get absolutely ****-faced some nights.. but with the time saved, and not eating out at work every day? I'm down 4 pounds.

All true, but I wear button down shirts casually, too. And I was running low.

I went to open Court with a client, a tie and dress shoes last Thursday. The mask didn’t seem odd, the setting and clothing felt odd!

Good to see at least some Judges and courts doing something, quite a few seem to be content sitting on their backside, hoping all their cases will settle.

Doesn't make a lot of sense. Impending shut downs should lessen orders. Companies don't want to have a lot of inventory on hand they cannot sale.

If shipping to distribution centers, I would agree. Stock inventory for the upcoming ECOMM sales.

Just thought of another plus for me: My face chaps really easily in cold weather. I will actually enjoy wearing a mask when it's below freezing. I hate wearing a scarf because I feel like Randy from A Christmas Story so a mask will be perfect.

One more - 50% less shaving. Even had to attend a closing for a client the other day and did not bother to shave, I was only there for 20 minutes, and everyone had to wear a mask, so why bother? Really hate shaving every day, almost never do so on weekends anyway.

There are some savings with breath mints, too, don’t forget!!
