Possible grad transfer target? Hans Brase

Hans Brase, 6-9 forward from Princeton, is transferring according to this article from yesterday. He has a pretty interesting story. As a junior in '14-'15, he averaged 31 min, 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Tigers. He then missed the next year with an ACL injury, but since the Ivy League doesn't allow medical redshirts he withdrew from school for the year so he could come back. Then 5 games into this last season he had another season ending injury. He can't go back to Princeton again but should be eligible for another year as a transfer.

Obviously the injuries are a BIG concern (both injuries were the same knee) but I wonder if we'll take a look.

It will be very interesting to see whether NU goes with the grad transfer route or instead focuses on potential four-year guys like Mark Smith or possibly Clifton Moore.

With our current roster, I think I'd prefer the latter, but I trust CCC to make the right decision here.

With Pardon, Skelly, Benson, Falcon, and Ivanauskus, not to mention Law at the #3, we should be pretty strong in the frontcourt. I'd like to see us go with youth and/or another guard.

A more likely Princeton 5th yes was reported eons (ions?) ago, Henry Caruso, a 6'4" shooting guard who missed last season due to a bad toe. In 2015-16 he was PU's leading scorer averaging 15 a game and shot 455 from 3. Would be a great guy off the bench.

Is everyone forgetting that there are two open scholarships to give. So a big and a PG could both be accommodated.

I think CC may think twice about getting an Ivy grad school big man, the last guy from Yale who also had injury issues was a nice dude probably but didn't move the needle for us.

Although occasionally Ivy teams do upset higher profile teams, the competitiveness level of the Ivy League is well below that of the B1G. It is probably overly optimistic to expect an Ivyleaguer to make the leap to the B1G and make a significant contribution, especially if it is a "big man" who isn't that big, to begin with. Now, if it is very late and the coaching staff is certain the schoolie would be "wasted" they could give someone a try, but mostly to fill the roster.

I'd love the 6-4 guard who shot 45 percent from 3, could fill the Taphorn role as designated zone breaker off the bench.
