This has accounts of a storm.

The last time we got close to this was in 2001, and 80% of the sky was cloud covered where I was. Not only were these meteors they were all fireballs. You can see some lighting up through the clouds. I sit outside for an hour that morning and with only looking at a small portion of the sky I saw over 200.
Nail do you know which area in the sky ? East west ? I want to take my daughters out to look

Was wondering the same. South, since it may be visible to all the Americas?

If it is a storm, all I believe.

from the constellation Boötes, radiating from just above the star Arcturus, a ruddy orange-yellow entity that will be the brightest star in the sky of the Northern Hemisphere at that time. Locating Arcturus is easy if you can find the Big Dipper: Simply trace a line from the last two stars in the Dipper’s handle in a direction away from its bowl. The first bright star you see should be Arcturus.

Soooo...apparently weathermen & meteor shower experts are cut from the same cloth.

From the article above:

A never-before-seen meteor shower may light up the skies with untold numbers of brilliant streaks the evening of Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Or the event could fizzle out and be a dud.
It has to do with the size of the particles. If it broke up into really small particles, there will be nothing. If it broke up into larger chunks, then it will be cool.

Almost like nature has a mind of its own. Strange….

Okay I've seen three the last 30 seconds including one fireball.

It wound up being about 5 in 1 minute and then back to nothing. Hopefully that five a minute will come back plus a whole lot more.

I'm stuck on 39. Which isn't horrible. It's just a long ways from the 3900 I expected to see.

I saw zero. I didn’t go outside to look, don’t know if that factors in or not.
Not for you it doesn't. But seriously, there was one moment last night where I thought it was about to get going. Then back to hardly any. Not a complete dud but nothing to remember forever either.

I remember that in 2001. I was fishing all night. The entire sky was lit up. That’s if I’m thinking of the right time. I watched last night for an hour here at the beach. Saw maybe 1-2 streakers. Was hoping for a show over the ocean.

Over the ocean would be a top place to watch. The desert is the best.

The 2001 storm returns about every 33 years. It happened in 66 and in 99(?), Which I missed somehow, and 2001. It is supposed to return in 2033 I believe.

This one didn't materialize but it was decent. I saw about ten per hour.
