In a completely unexpected Twitterverse rumor, there seems to a Louisville insider who is reporting a distinct possibility that Tom Jurich could make a return as UofL’s AD. Anybody else hearing these rumblings (@zipp). Life is anything but boring for a UofL fan these days.:cool:

Twitterverse is a crazy world. To restate what I have always said, I have ZERO sources; I just follow a LOT of supposed UofL insiders. This Jurich rumor seems to be from a single source who other sources seem to have high regards for their info. Personally, I can’t see any way this happens unless we have already been made aware on our NCAA/IARP ruling.

It is ridiculous that the NCAA has slow played us to this extent.

They have come as close to the “death penalty” without giving us the death penalty as possible.

The “pending” rulings have killed recruiting and coaching searches more or less.

I say bring him back and sue the NCAA for negligence and dereliction of duty in not settling this before we went through 3 BB coaches and two ADs.

Jurich’s good friend Luther put it out on Twitter. We shall see
100 years ago, Luther used to know it all. He used to post here. He’s managed to maintain a reputation as an insider, but 100 years is a long time. I love Jurich. I’d be all in. I’ll put his return at 1%.

The process is the penalty.

LOL still awaiting punishment for crap committed under a former AD's watch. All yell lets just rehire him again before said punishment is administered . I really wonder if people have a brain in this city.
Crap happened under Tyra’s watch, too. Just to be clear.

If there’s a guy in this space routinely who would know anything, it’s @Jack Coffee. He doesn’t often post on this side of the pay wall.

I saw Mark Jurich at the baseball dinner Friday, and Coach sort of lectured to attendees to get on the same page. Could just be circumstantial.

When Jurich settled with U of L, both sides agreed to not speak critically about the other. So he has to be careful what he says to anyone…

FWIW, now hearing Malik Williams has been suspended indefinitely for “failing to meet team standards throughout the year”. Even some whispers that Malik and Pegues “got into it” recently. Ah…the yin and yang of UofL sports fandom. For every action (good football recruiting news) there is an equal and opposite reaction (more bizarre reports out of the basketball program).

Malik not on the court is actually a good thing.

Malik not surprising he basically ruined an entire season and team single handed..Maybin has been saying all year that he needed to be booted and was a cancer to the younger guys.

A lot of people say this, and while I think the season was truly circling the drain long ago I'm not so sure we want to see Gabe trying to put a stop to Bacot when the Heels stroll into town. I think Wheeler has a concussion per @shadow force so the Cards have 99 problems.
We aren’t a NCAAT team. It doesn’t matter. Season was over before it began.

If any of the Jurich info is correct--I have doubts--and it gets much publicity, it puts the current administration in the spotlight. Maybe a Pitino cameo means something.

If they largely or completely rebuff Jurich, they can pretty much kiss anyone who supported him goodbye. Forever. And that's a lotta people who feel as strongly now as they ever did, esp. in light of the $hitshow we've been watching.

It's one thing to make a mistake. If as an organization you're gonna dig in your heels and claim you made a good decision and executed on it properly, you're a lost cause.

It will be a generation before that money and support is replaced. And who knows where the hell U of L will be as an athletic department by that time?...

This isn’t exactly true. While accurate many boosters have closed their check books since Jurich has been gone, those same boosters, notable ones, have told UofL if Payne is hired, the giving will return. It’s not all about Tom.

When I read the SI article about Ohio State football players making $3M in six months, i stopped caring about appearances. Its the wild west out there. I'm down, bring back Jurich and let the knowledgeable adult make the decisions going forward.

Not revealing sources, but who is PRESIDENT would matter greatly. When Ramsey was railroaded, it was the beginning of the end for Jurich. That hurdle makes sense.

And Payne will be a nonstarter for anyone but some nostalgic fanboys. More than new support, there will be as many or more thinking it's validation of a spiral down.

I obviously hope Payne's successful, but not because he's saving athletics or turning a new page. Hardly...

I think the real answer is to get Jurich and the University to reunite in some capacity. I don’t think there is any way he comes back as AD. It would be hard to recapture that kind of relationship like he had with Ramsey with a new President.

This has been my take. The Ramsey and TJ combination was the perfect storm. Neither would have accomplished what they did without the other. TJ would not accomplished much under Bendapudi. In the end she was destructive for our athletics and I’m more than glad she’s Penn St problem.
As Zipp put it unless we get a President that has the same philosophy as TJ, TJ will be handicapped and I don’t see him returning.
